I like these, think likely you did good.
Pluses and minuses with me for these as follows
Plus in terms of overall looks. The factory silkscreened applied schemes are well done in my opinion and mostly accurate
and the detail goodies are really sweet, especially the hatches and lever locks, and the bunker drains.
Minuses, per Dave's comments I rarely see these second hand, built fully intact. I have a pair in the basement that I swear drop or break parts
if I sneeze hard upstairs in the den. Just like their reverse engineered PRC copies, my experience the grabs, corner and center stirrups in particular are glass jaw fragile in operation.
*sigh*
Give us some mug shots/condition report if you can when they show up.
I've paid that much for one new un-built kit (another plus the kits were a gold mine of extra parts for upgrading older Athearns and AN examples.)

Pete nailed it! VERY nice looking, but a bit too fragile for my liking. DO NOT LOOK at those center stirrups too hard!

Where Intermountain models are concerned...delicately speaking...I have zero issues...Why...well because I handle my models with care...the way I learned as a child who never had may toys, and learned to be careful with them. Good stuff Jon...don't eff them up...

Good to know, Robert (R)! I think Sarge traded a couple of Intermountains to me and they were nice. But if the box arrives and I shake it and here a bunch of loose pieces rattling, to the trash can it goes!!

Probably won't be that bad, but if it is you need to throw that back at the seller.

The sill steps and grab irons seem to give the most problems...metal replacements
seem to help. But not as much as gingerly handling them!

Indeed. Proper handling tends to be rewarded with intact models as opposed to using them for basketball, squash, or rugby...

Great models Jon and I think you did fine. All IM cars are fragile, whether you build them or buy them RTR. My only issue with the RTR cars is all IM cars need extra weight (IMHO) and it becomes more difficult to add to RTR cars. I would epoxy large washers to the floor above each truck during assembly and this tends to be more difficult if you have to remove the roof to do so.

I can remember when finding these cars for $37 each was hard to do. Enjoy!
