Have to ask Ed the Brasman! Haven't heard anything of Jerry Snow in quite a while. He used to sell on Feebay.

Ed Campbell (if he is who you mean) passed away over a year ago and was absent from all forums for at least 5 years. He went in a full care retirement home with dementia 3+ years ago, got a little better for awhile, went home a few months and then passed away. He sure knew a great deal about brass.

Scarey, as it doesn't seem that long since him (Ed) and "Brasscollector" were posting on here bashing GK, saying he would never bring in another engine. It ultimately happened, and they departed,++++++++ lickety split. Doesn't seem like it was that long ago!

Some interesting information here. I am just glad that I have a US Hobbies/KTM SD45 done up in a nice Great Northern paint job. IF i ever wanted a second SD45, I would look for another painted KTM or a two-rail MTH, either one would be good enough for me.

Sort of along the same line as folks who insist on complete underbody details (read: expensive).
I always tell them, the only time you see that is if you do something wrong. Like a derailment.
My Kemtron GP-9 is all the detail I need and then some. Plus with A-N drives, it goes, and goes, and goes.

Yeah, Ed got sideways with GK over a 9000 he ordered. Somehow the cab wasn't secured correctly, so he sent it back for repair (remember KOH's was pretty new at this time and no one really knew much about him), so when Ed got it back, someone had drilled, tapped and installed a round headed, slotted screw right in the middle of the cab floor. That started a running feud and was the last KOH's loco Ed ever purchased. I used to have a photo of it, but not sure I can find it..........pretty disgusting repair for a $4K model.

I don't have any news about MMW, but thought I would post two recent feebay auctions of Squander Plenty locomotives. The first one is an OMI SD40T-2, a locomotive that Sunset 3rd Rail is taking reservations for... but my guess is that Scott will *not* be doing this version with the long front nose:

The second is an Oriental Limited SDP45, the same locomotive designation as the prototype unit atop of MMW's home page... but also different. The Oriental Limited model below is for an dual-mode (passenger and freight) SDP45 that was built specifically for Southern Pacific. I think they pulled the San Jose to San Francisco commuter trains during the week and worked the freight pool on the weekends. Meanwhile, the SDP45 on MMW's home page was a freight-only unit built for the Erie Lackawanna that was later rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen in the 1990s.
