Got this message a moment ago: Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached. Is this something we can purge our own photos from or is this something only the webmaster can do?

There's like three threads covering this on these forums.
If you remember the last "purging", the owners just delete, and we'll end up with two pages on each forum.
Could they do it differently? Yes.
Will they? We'll have to wait and see.

SAVE everything you think you might need later as it will probably be gone.

Thanks Dave, I remember previous purges but really had nothing post I couldn't replace and had already printed off what I wanted to see of other.

No idea. Why not try and test that out? Curious. If yes, then folks that are responsible could delete their older stuff periodically.

I was able to purge some photos, but no idea how many are required to open it back up. But, I only have photos posted to the 2-10-2 thread to my knowledge and was hoping to keep that thread going.

Well at least we all learned that it it possible for individuals can delete and clean up after themselves. Whether it makes a difference at this juncture remains to be seen, but it is something to consider by those that post directly to the forum in the future.

I've started deleting my files off Photobucket and in search of a viable alternative that is not insanely convoluted and either free or modestly priced in some realm of reality.

It works for sure and I've already used some of the space I created deleting photos I found I had posted. There are a lot of guys, with a lot of photos, who need to go back and do some purging so we don't lose everything.

My account with Photobucket expires in ~18 months.

I figured everyone would have read up on this by now.
Somewhere between 01JUN and 28JUN PB changed their TOU (Terms of Use) to disallow third party hosting (like posting photos here from there).
NOW to do that they want $400 a year from you.
Some places call it ransomware. Not sure I fully buy into that, but it is greed and avarice.
The thing you must do NOW is get your photos OFF PB.
NObody (even those who claim it will never happen) knows what PB will do next...if they needed cash this bad, and if what I am reading all over is correct, folks are just pulling photos out and closing the account...which means, NO income, not even folks to view the mandated overlay ads.

It appears if some folks are on the old $20 plan to give more bandwidth, those will be honored until 2018 unless PB pulls the plug, in preparation for that possibility you should still:
Get your photos or copies of them somewhere safe.

Go look up a post by Sarge. Look at his profile photo in the posting. THAT'S what you get from PB now on all photos everywhere.

It's $2.99 per month - $36. Does state in that updated TOS to be good through Dec 2019, but.......wanna buy a bridge and some swamp land?

All my photos are copies before they were ever put on Photobucket, so no loss either way -- never trust and always back everything up multiple locations.

I've used Flickr for 7 years.

Was playing with Flickr today -- not liking the organization, but the price is right.......today. Flickr is part of Yahoo and that is owned by Verizon.....who just did away with its e-mail business shoving that under AOL.

I actually already own a domain and site, but I'll be handing that over to the NMRA in the near future; my son was the webmaster until recently and I'm effectively the web master of another site.

It would probably just feature a lot of the models that I have built over the years......a lot more than seen here or anywhere else for that matter.

Hello Photo posters ... Ok so there is a limited amount of space and photos take up a lot of space ?

So you post a photo and take it down a few weeks later ?

Sorry for filling the bucket with all my photos ....I'll just hold the photos up to the screen for all to see

I'll start pulling down my photos in hopes there will be room for new images .

There are tons of threads that no-one looks at. If a thread remained without anybody looking at it for, say, six months, maybe it should drop off automatically. It is like magazines - most of us do not save old Time magazines or the WSJ.

I don't hink it should be up to us to go back and delete. It could be automatic - a trivial subroutine.
