Happened this evening as the three truck Shay was backing a train down the siding beside the water tank at Mehus. Derailed and accordioned, catching the passing eastbound uphill on the main and derailing empty log flats. Took a while to untangle.

Hey Dave, Pretty neat stuff (apart from the wreck, of course). Has a nice look for sure, and "layout space" is definitely, NOT a factor unless you have a small yard. Wondering about the purpose of the wooden panel?

I bet it's a garden or yard gate. Outdoor railways look like an enjoyable extension of our beloved indoor hobby.

Gate, and tracks in grooves fixed as concrete steps were poured.

1500' of track, somewhere between 90 and 100 switches (can never keep track).
Those trains are on the 4% grade, which in real life is 150 feet long over all.

There are a couple of K-27's roaming....depending on what shows up, up to 5 outside framed 2-8-0's, Shays, Heislers, Climax, the occasional 4-6-0, 2-6-0 and even 4-4-0.

Every one is radio/battery.

No small expenditure there, but so many possibilities...looks like fun.
