Looks oddly familiar...........as if it has graced this forum in the past.....

OK, I'll bite. This is a Siebers Bros. E3/6, which is comprised of Adams and Son castings for the nose, roof, ends, and truck sideframes and Sieber Bros sides and chassis. Adams and Son gets the credit now, as they put their name in the castings, but it was Siebers Bros. that marketed the model. Unfortunately, the axle gears in these are undersized for the load and there was a flaw in the worm shaft support (or lack thereof), so the drives are problematic at best. Note that Pomona Valley and later Fernando Valley also marketed an E3/6 using the Adams and Son casting set (which could be bought separately direct from A&S). The PV/FV units have their own unique drive, and those built by modelers from the castings alone (or those with their original drives replaced) also can have unique (and at times odd) drives, so these are seen in a variety of configurations.

IMHO there is a lot of good stuff in OST.

Wow is right. Even with the recent uptick in doorstop prices, I would not have expected this one to go for much more than $200, especially given that the drive may need some serious work and we know for a fact that the sides are all bent up. But eBay is full of surprises. I do recall an AB set of Wentzco FTs going for around the same price not that long ago. The funny thing is that in each case it takes two people to bid it up that high. No telling what the high bid actually was.
