Does anyone know what happened to the O scale Red Caboose kits and parts?

GP-9 parts inventory to Des Plaines Hobbies, Locomotive and Car business sold to Intermountain, then sold from there to Atlas O.

Thanks! Unfortunately, Atlas does not list parts for the 8000 gal tank cars.
Looks like I'll have to adapt Wiseman's brass brackets

Always call Atlas before giving up on parts. They frequently have things in stock that are not listed on the website.

Rex - Leon Fairbanks started Red Caboose, and as recently as maybe 3 years ago he still had various parts for the tank cars, a lot of this a few of that, just not all of them to make up a kit. Contacting him seems worth a try. Someone on this list or Rod Miller should have contact info. He lives in Ca and goes to OSW.

Rod Miller puts on the O Scale West show "with a little help from his friends". He is away from home now, but I will talk to him on Sunday and ask.

Not a big deal, but I always thought a fellow by the name of Bill McClung ran Red Caboose.

The following is a clip from Erik Lindgren's "Brass Scrapbook" on OGR that seems to affirm that idea:

"This car is a 2 compartment 8000 gallon version imported by my friend Bill McClung owner of W.A. Drake named after his father and built by Wusong Brass Model WBM. Over the years Bill was also invested heavily into his company Red Caboose and more recently he worked at Intermountain Railway Company in Longmont, Colorado."

Your right, I'm wrong. A usually reliable source told me Leon Fairbanks and I didn't question it. I got in too big of a hurry. So it is Bill that had and probably still has a bunch of parts. Can someone tell the group how to contact him? If not I'll ask Rod on Sunday.

The Fairbanks name just didn't sound right to me and after a bit of smoke coming out of my ears the name McClung popped into my head. Then I googled McClung/Red Caboose, and Erik's post on OGR popped up. I'm guessing Erik might be able to tell you how to contact him. The Red Caboose 10,000 gallon tankers and reefers were really nice. It's a shame IM didn't go with the metal details. I remember Bill's name being mentioned on some of the Yahoo O groups....maybe someone over there might know how to contact him if you can't contact Erik. Erik posts here on occasion.

I thought the Red Caboose Tanks cars were 8,000 and the Inter Mountain cars 10,000. Could be wrong-I usually am......

Leon is the owner of Red Caboose and Bill is his friend. Bill takes care of the day to day interaction and business affairs. I have their contact info but I'm not sure what to share. How about if I contact Bill and ask about the parts?

Thank you Jay, that sounds like a good idea. So my usually reliable source wasn't so wrong after all. I don't know anything, I just work hear.
