Here's one that is going unnoticed:

It is held out as a Lobaugh, but all Lobaugh nuts know that a rare FEF is never worth much more than about $400, because it is so inaccurate. But this one is simply not Lobaugh.

I really don't know what it is, but check out that gorgeous crankpin nut. I do not believe USH went that far.

Sure would be nice to see the underside of the loco. That would probably answer the question.

I'll message the guy and see if he'll do just that.

If he wants to sell it, the price is about right for today's market. These older FEF's have really taken a beating on price over the decades. Late 90's they'd bring $1600-2000 for a nice example, but you can buy a nice Kleinschmidt powered USH FEF-3 from Alleghany Scale Models for $1500 right now, making the engine just about free. Still have a USH FEF-3 I bought from Si in the late 90's and turned into a project, plus my Holy Grail KTM/USA, so I'm set.

It would. It is up to him, though, and not us. I was just pointing out the possibility of a nice piece for the price - no Lobaugh would go for that much!

I did the NP Ckhallenger - look for my "Challenger" thread. I even have a D&H.

I found the "D&H"; but not the NP.

Guess you'll just have to post (yet) another photo...
