No - actually a rather big and ungainly decal that I was very lucky to not mess up any more than I did -- source? Unknown. But I sort of wish I had 2-3 more.

Actually a heck of a job. You scored through every simulated wood groove and I can't see the clear part of the decal. You used dull coat or something like that to hide the decal??

Wow! That is a great job of copying and upscaling. Really looks good and I thought the cars came decorated or with the proper decals.

You've really got to be creative today as so much is not available any longer.

Thanks!

Yes, a #10 scalpel and Matte Clear rattle can out in the driveway. I've gotten away from Dull Coat.

Agree with Butch, I'd just assumed it was another Clover House DT. Great looking car, the Fox Trucks are very cool.

Great decals and sharp application too, clean builds too, going to guess one on the left is AN and the right .....Scale Craft?
Do you recall?

Thanks! Yes, Fox Trucks are very cool. I don't have very many of these available in my stock, but they do add personality to a car!

Yes - I think maybe Thomas was the only supplier of Fox trucks, although I seem to remember a pair of bronze sand-cast around here. We were going to cast some up lost-wax, but the master got lost.

Pete - no longer sure of the provenance of my ice cars, but I have squirrelled away a bunch of plywood scribed sides, and I think what we are looking at is a pair of Walthers or All Nation cars, modified with thicker wood inside, and some of those plywood sides glued on. I have a third, with All Nation roof, ends, and underframe, and plywood scribed sides, to more closely approximate the Varney model.

I just got a Westbrook and a Scalecraft off the eBay for cheap. Popsicle orange is on order, and they are both being rejuvenated for application of PFE decals. And I had started a scratch car, but cannot find my hinges and ladders. It just got set aside for later.

Back to the decals: I had Jim make some PRR Merchandise Service decals, and they really turned out well. Photo of the Varney and the O Scale version will follow.

To texas&pacific, who just rejoined us after a very long absence - a forum is only as good as its participants. Folks who do not participate will have a difficult time complaining about non-participation. We have lost good participants lately to OGR - Erik Lundgren now prefers OGR to our little forum. Yeah, I look over there, but I do not miss participating.

Here we go:

Thomas - Yes. I find some every rare time and buy them - actually far better than one might think. The trucks under the AHM Casey Jones tender is another source. Yoder imported a version as well. Dylan Lambert had them in 3D printed but I was never able to extract any from him. I suspect that a 3D route might be the most expeditious means now.

Unfortunate. I don't look over there; I don't miss it at all.

For that splash of color....

Decals on this were a total PITA. And the decal set solution lifted a layer of the siding :? .....much colorful language was involved in finishing this car,

I've often wondered about the technique(s) used to apply decals to models with wood car-sides.

Yes. Very nice, but I think I might have applied them differently if there is ever a next time.

Same as any other surface; gloss & apply. But then I usually go back with a scalpel and cut them along every board and re-apply decal setting solution.

That the top layer of siding peeled up during the 1st stage of that process was "problematic"

I presume the final step is an overspray of clear matte?
