Hard to believe its been almost 35 years since I last saw the Trooping first-hand. The Guards were back from the Falklands, the Iron Lady was PM, I was driving a BMC Mini, and HRH still rode on horseback during the Trooping of the Colour.

Hang on to the extra Kadees; sounds like Pete will be fixing you up. BTW, if I have my chronology right about passenger schemes on the Pennsy, they stopped painting Fleet of Modernism in 1946. The '49 Broadway was in the postwar red with one stripe over the windows and two stripes below, lettered in Dupont Duco cell'y lacquer gold until 1952, then Dupont Dulux enamal.

So, I'd say go ahead since its arguable whether all the Leowy stuff got repainted by '52 when green E8s arrived and they look dead cool anyway. You can always use a T1 or a K4 if the IG is coming.

Hell, I had to look it up in an obscure book published by the SPF Technical and Histerical Society! Who's gonna argue with you and survive?

Fantastic Trooping of the Colors.

I think I remember FOM cars in use on the Pennsy in the late 1940s and early 1950s but never a complete train of them.
They would be mixed with others. I think it was hard at that time to find a complete matching train on the PRR.

Rufus, what in the world is a PRR Yellow Kid?

I don't remember for sure but I think it was a late 19th/early 20th century passenger train so called because it was painted yellow. ???

The Pennsylvania Limited as it ran at the turn of the 20th century was nicknamed the "Yellow Kid", for the yellow windowband on the then-wooden passenger cars. I wonder if the nickname came from the cartoon character of the same name...

Very different from the tuscan norm, and very "Rufus". Grin!

Nice to see you back posting on a regular basis.

A couple good books to recommend to you for PRR and NYC are the late Al Staufer's "Pennsy Power III" and New York Central's Later Power 1910-1968. They can be had used fairly reasonable on Amazon, Ebay, and other outlets. They will answer a lot of your questions and help keep the "Prototype Police" off your back.

As E8's go, the PRR had one with upper and lower headlights!

It was indeed nick named after the cartoon (cartoon would thrive these days given it's "Mencken-like" political bent)
