Isn't that Lobaugh lovely? There are not that many of them wandering around. Mine came from Bud Cantlay, who said it came from someplace within the Tayloe/Swerdfeger (sp?) community. I lowered the cab and rearranged a few things. A nice model with fully clevised nickel silver valve gear, something only seen on the CLW steamers.

George Zane was a famous modeler and dealer in New Jersey. I bought my Max Gray MT-4 from him - cost a half month's wages. Worth it. Scale Craft was maybe the first for a fully equalized mechanism in O Scale, but here at the Museum there is a 4-4-0 with equalized everything including lead truck, and I think it is older than I am. for a while it was a test bed for NWSL gearboxes. We ran through five really good motors - literally wore them out - before the axle gear gave out. I finally put a K&D in the tender, and I do not know how the poor thing is doing today.

Little Engines was a contemporary of Scale Craft, and many LE live steamers are out there. Their O Scale Northern and Hudson used leaf springs and full equalization among drivers. Here are a couple of frame shots - bottom is LE; top is a pattern that arrived here in a care package. I should send it to Stevenson.

Really nice loco. What a thrill these locos must have been before MG and USH entered the scale model market. And that SC equalized frame is so advanced for what I considered most of the locos from this time period to be like. I've learned something I never realized or even dreamed was available back then. Those locos were the Kohs and Key of their day.

Yeah, I know the picture is upside down. I did everything I know to get it right side up. If someone can fix it and post it correctly, that would help.

That is indeed the same frame. It would make a nice start for a Northern.
