I think 60" is O Scale's rock bottom minimum. You can get a 72" Pacific around that, and maybe 70 foot passenger cars.

Speaking of passenger cars, I guess I am wealthy - used K-Line 21" cars seem to be selling for $250 and up. I may have 30 of them.

And back to PRR - a Max Gray M1 is languishing on eBay - it is a Trainz item, and appears to be missing only a smokebox front and pilot. I can easily replace those things - do we think this is a reasonably good deal at just over $300?

Nobody has opinions on that M1? I guess it is not a bargain, since it is on its second stint as a "buy it now".

I thought I had a photo of my M1a, which is a nice model and deserves some gold, white, and red pin striping (someday). But for this week it is the old bargain Williams T1, which came only in 3-rail. My brother Mike two railed maybe ten of them, and I have one of those in my collection. Runs like the wind, rigid frame, but handles the 74" curves with aplomb.

Paint is Scale Coat with a hint of CNW green. I almost blew it with Scale Coat clear - it eats ordinary Scale Coat colors - but somehow recovered with some Future Floor Wax, lots of rubbing compound, and a few expletives. The open area where the portholes were is all me - I never cared for the Buick look on trains.



I still have an extra set of 2-railed drivers - price was pretty high ($80, I think) but now with Jim Canter setting the price of drivers, maybe they are a bargain.

Funny - I have had this thing for a quarter century - maybe three decades! - and never noticed that I had failed to install a cylinder center saddle section. Easy-peezy. But not today; I have airplane work awaiting on two birds.

The "right Person" just has not seen it yet. Many are going to be put off by that missing smokebox front and pilot. Not all have the wherewithal to respond to even the slightest of flaws.

If you choose to define with those boundary conditions and limitations, then maybe yes.

Fortunately for many, there is much in O scale that falls within much smaller limits.
