Denver & Rio Grande Western, my favorite!

Postby Pacific Limited » Fri Nov 21, 2025 3:22 pm

I’m totally bonkers for DRGW, O scale thankfully has a lot of options for it.

This old PFM L77 is a favorite and a wonderful model. The coaling tower is the Burnham tower scratch built direct to the drawings.

I’m not on Meta anymore, never again and I can’t log in on the other o scale community to buy a membership so my energy is focused here. I refuse to use Meta despite their ownership of 90% of the social networking online. I’m surprised Meta hasn’t bought off the owner of this forum and shut it down so I only can share on Meta; monopoly, the phone company is back.

I don't know anything about Meta, but they threw me off NK a couple years ago - turns out I do not miss posting there.

I have no idea how this forum survives, but it, eBay, and my buddies are now my only real connection to the O Scale community.

Whatever it is that drove you back, we are delighted you are here again!

Yeah, this is Golden.
Erik did you build that coaling tower? What a fantastic model and not a walk in the park either, much less if you have to move it frequently as you're wisely using finished portable modules for your out-door set-ups. The realism is mind blowing.....

Meta is everything now online as far as social media networking at the head of that brainwash agency is Facebook. On that list is WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, and various others. All use Confirmation bias technology, hate campaigns, fear based messaging, persuasion, disinformation and misinformation, cyber bullying, confusion, weaponized memes and uninvited content, and anything else you can dream up atop what you want to see from your community. You cannot stop it and it feeds off your smart devices, gps data, microphone listening, texting, email, pre-texting, even if you don’t send a message what you type is harvested and used against you or for you depending on the circumstances based on the highest bidder. In my case a parent of 2 kids and late 40s I’m a target for politics and propaganda on an industrial level, all weaponized to cause fear or anger and increased engagement. Did I mention the data harvesting? Look, it’s an Ugly place that even 5 years ago was a far different and safer place.

One must realize that the internet is a communist country where you have no rights, and when you agree to the terms of service with a certain site like Meta, or that end user agreement, it’s a binding contract and essentially the holder is God, and you have no rights, no oversight, nothing. This is unprecedented in human history what’s happening right now with these social networking platforms and the internet. Free phones and data plans hyper charged with 5G…. God only knows. Then there is my children, the most at risk to the grooming in these “shorts” 15 second videos on TikTok, and Instagram, Threads, my children are banned from the internet, now 7 and 11, all of thier friends are plugged in and when you see them it’s like they are in some kind of hypnosis or induced comma while holding their iPhones, they are and ready for grooming and suggestion to whatever evil comes there way. We need to stop this.

As far as the other forum I was warned they were monetizing last month to help defray costs and my infrequent visits I missed some of the message's about losing access once they switch. I let the ball drop a little in my absence since last month and lost access to my account to buy a subscription. I have a few subscription based internet services such as Trainorders and Flickr, but neither of those lock you out of your account. I can’t buy the subscription because I can’t log in anymore, maybe it’s a hiccup in the switch I don’t know, but I do understand why they must bill out for offering the forum. It’s time consuming and expensive. I wish them the best, I’m no longer included at this time. I’ll miss some of the guys on there they are my friends, but like Facebook all of these internet based relationships are at risk of infrastructural changes. I had over 6ooo friends on Facebook in July when I deactivated my account, all based in the Facebook community, mostly railfans and photographers. But being subject to the Meta brainwashing and propaganda I’ll pass.

I had forgotten that Facebook became Meta.

I have an account, but never used it. My experience was one of abject horror at the posts of my fairly conservative brother, and disbelief that folks actually thought a photo of their breakfast was of interest.

I understand now - stick around this time. We are more active than the 2 rail department of OGR, even on our slow weeks.

The entire internet is a minefield these days. So many of the mindless population keep it going without a thought of what they're actually giving up. I mirror you disdain for these social medias Erik.

Maroon always advises me not to post everything at once - he has been successful at posting his projects on a weekly basis. We really need input like Erik's, as well as that of Sarge and Martin.

But I do the same - I stick all of my Lobaugh models in a single thread, without giving anybody much chance to comment. Here, though, these photos are so beautiful and realistic, and artistically well done, that we would do well to space them out - and keep Erik around as a regular poster.

I am seriously hoping that he will stay here and grace us with one or two photos each week, so we can savor his artistry. Of course, I am hoping that sooner rather than later he will again post his DRGW Alco PA photos. And maybe more photos of Dr. Jeff's layout?
