Thanks for asking. Scratch, except drivers, wheels, small castings, motor and gears. Unusual for me, but 1/4”/ft. Patterned after Lobaugh construction techniques. Boiler is .032 tubing. Runs smoothly on 74” radius.

Gorgeous model Bob - but I especially like how your lighting shows off how the headlight is separate from the smoke box door. It's hard to pull off that detail in the smaller scales.

Bob, back in your OSN writing days you published a list of the Pittman motors by size and number. Do you still have that list?

No, but I can still answer questions.

I started with the 9434 motors, then graduated to the 8224. I always specified silver graphite brushes and ball bearings. I even talked to Charlie Pittman Jr in the day.

Do you need dimensions, or pin locations?

I'm good Bob, but a friend asked a question the other day I couldn't answer and I thought about the "chart" you posted in OSN decades ago. I've since disposed of my OSN mags so no longer have it. The friend made a decision and moved on so no problem.

Had a nice day today with Michael Ross, proprietor and chief engineer of the Virginian Railway in Ft Worth, Texas. Today an SP-type came for a visit:

The 4-10-2 is a Max Gray model with a Stu Kleinschmidt drive. It was last owned by Charlie Morrill, who some of you may recall has a wonderful SP layout with working semaphores and wig-wags. Charlie's layout operates on DCC, but this one never got converted. Charlie knew I had an interest in the SP, and inquired as to whether I might be interested. I had been looking for an SP freight engine as company for the stable of passenger locomotives I have, so the answer was "yes". And while I was thinking Mikado would be just right, this ten-coupled cruises around the 60" curves of the inner mainline of our club layout with no problem. Having said that, it sure looks good on the sweeping curves of the New River Gorge route.

Well, bump! Still waiting for some detailed shots of that 4-10-2.

We need mostly train stuff - but let's say we lost this entire thread and those like it. I guarantee we can re-create them. Suppose we entice others - we might have a thread on Atlantic Coast Line or something. Let's not miss out on a broader base of participants.

Bump again. Here is a Carey old-timer. Obviously scratchbuilt, not bad at all (My tender).
I forget what I did to it - something mechanical, no doubt - over a year ago.

Beautiful locomotive Bob. I like long wheelbase loco to look at, but no so much for running.

Just noticed the photo Jim posted of Michael Ross's layout....fantastic. That stream and rock dam are so real looking and especially the water coming over the top.....wow.

I'll have a rough old GS4 I think in a few days that I can post some pictures of.

Here is the dirtbag GS4 (I think since it has an enclosed cab). Yes, I need to put it back together and touch it up, it is two rail. Center drivers blind, sorry Bob. Wood block tender with brass wrap, brass boiler, cast frame, nice drivers All Nation motor, thinking made in the 40's or 50's. Carey is thinking it came from the west coast.
