Re: Midwestern Model Works Redux
Do we even have any MMW sycophants here? We have well-wishers and sceptics - I am both.
Re: Midwestern Model Works Redux
I have been calling
ECS Fabrication
623 Rathbone Ave
Aurora, IL 60506
630-896-5922
several times leaving messages to call me but have not received a call back.
Left about 20 messages October and November 2021.
My latest attempt to contact him ,today, resulted in a “memory full” voice mailbox error.
Also tried his cell phone, but no answer.
No, I do not have a model reserved.
What I do have is a brass diesel shipped to him for the custom drive conversion.
He received the item February 15, 2012, yes that is 9 years. Now I am a patient man, however 9 years is long enough to build one custom drive if you worked on it one hour a month.

Bob, My feelings are pretty much the same.
Larry, All I can say is, you have a H*ll of a lot more patience than I do. I hope things work out to your benefit.

Nope. That is grounds for legal action. Erik should return the pieces like immediately, with an apology.

Statute of Limitations, 7 years. Can you take legal action against the guy at this point?
That said, there is NO excuse for having someone's property that long.
Not encouraging news for they with reservations.

Wow!
“ 10 - WE GUARANTEE THAT OUR DRIVE SYSTEM WILL NOT BE OUT- PERFORMED, OUT-PULLED OR OUT-LASTED BY ANY PRODUCTION OR AFTERMARKET "O" SCALE DRIVE SYSTEM ON THE MARKET.”
Pride! Pretty cool.
Larry K, why do you think the ECS people are not finishing your locomotive after 7 years or calling back? Did they go out of business? How would you get your nice brass model back, albeit with its factory junk drive? I jest, about the junk drive but after reading that web page, dang I’m throwing everything I own out in the trash.
Is this “ECS Fabrication” makers of “diesel drive” and metal fabricator connected in some way to Midwest Model Works?

ECS = initials, I do believe, thus one and the same person.
Re: Midwestern Model Works Redux
Well looks like I’ll have to hit the dark web and see if Eric is still alive. The last time I spoke with him was late January of this year. His one employee was dealing with health issues. I am dealing with another custom builder that will probably finish my project this year. He has never failed to deliver. With this Covid Crap things are really out of wack.

Contract S/L is generally four years - but he has Larry's property.
Any contact that amounts to re-affirmation tolls the S/L. But you need contemporaneous documentation for things like phone calls and personal visits.
This is the first instance that truly indicates that something is seriously wrong. Keeping folks' deposits is common; delays can be excusible, but keeping a model for 12 years and refusing to return it when asked is off in the "theft" area.

This is common practice in the antique motorcycle world. You send something out to be restored/repaired or to be used as pattern. Low and behold 5 years later you're still waiting. No phone calls no emails not even a snail mail letter saying anything about your items. I no longer send parts further than a 3 hour drive. If you keep my part for a year and nothing has moved forward. I'm driving out to get it. I had parts in Oregon that took years to complete. I live in Philadelphia suburbs. I had to higher a lawyer and shipping company to get my parts back. It's a real gut punch when this kind of thing happens in a hobby.
I spend entirely too many hours a day tying my shoes

Just to set the record straight, I am going to ask for my model back, but I cannot get an answer phone and email. Erik has never refused to return the model because I haven’t had the opportunity to ask him yet.

You tried Info(at)ecsfabrication.com ?
Man, that has to be the most bare-bones website. No clickable links.
It's a fabrication and welding shop! Nothing to do with machining at all from what I have read elsewhere on the algore.
