Forty years ago those ranged in price from four to 32 grand, with tender. I have no doubt that was a reasonable deal.

For me, the 1-700 E would be a better deal around $250. Same model, less problem with zinc contamination, lower price due to "collectibility" status, and good tender. But thanks.

Considering what 32K would buy 40 years ago, someone either had too much money or not enough brains. Opinion! I wouldn't give a C note for the thing as it holds no mystique for me. Obviously it still does to some, but there are (opinion) much nicer brass models out there for similar money.
