Finally got around to viewing and editing the video I took from my visit.

Minus one or two spots where I noticed stalling, the layout still runs great after all these decades.

Enjoy.

Wish they had slowed down those trains a bit. I tried freeze-frame to see what they were running, but no luck.

I wonder if they were running trains for the general public?
IMHO the public likes to see fast model trains because that is what they usually saw in their younger days,
Of course this is just ny opinion.

The trains pretty much ran one speed. I think it ran that way regardless of whether I was there or not. This was not a show, but a typical work day for them. They hadn't been there in a few weeks and were trying to clean off any oxidization on the rails.

As of running qualities, there was the appearance of jerking as the engines went between blocks, so not the smoothest, but they ran well.

Bob, I have other photos. Maybe something to help you. What is it you are trying to see?

Aside from a double-track extension, this is my only piece of outside third rail track:

I would not mind seeing more photos of that layout. I visited there years ago when I was visiting Vern and he took me there.

The locomotives, and to a lesser extent, the cars are of interest to me. The Diesel looks like an E6 doorstop; the steamer may be Scale Craft. When I froze them they were just a blur.

Hello all

It looks as if the days of the Bay Ridge Brooklyn club layout are very numbered .....

I added 3 photos to the earlier album. Saving some other photos I had taken of the E unit for now, but may release later.

Yea I just heard the news earlier today.

I am going to make an attempt to go back for more photos, maybe a video overview the of the layout, and see what they are planning to do with the trains themselves. It's basically Adam's call on whether I get to go back, etc.

In the case I get to go back...

Are there any questions you guys want me to ask?

Are there any photos of anything specific you want me to ask?

Any other last words?

Dave - Mainly information on what they expect to do. Since they have not yet found a place to move, it seems they won't be able to. From a historical preservation standpoint, is there a way to keep the trains and any paper records together?

Beyond that, close up pictures of any equipment and structures, particularly the older equipment and items lettered for the club.

Also the ability for someone to be in contact with the older members of the club that have moved out of the area, so as to get whatever knowledge that may still be obtainable on the early days of the club.

Thank you for your efforts.

So I had no idea these guys had a Facebook page, but here it is:

https://www.facebook.com/Bay-Ridge-Mode ... 902945397/

Lotsa video and pictures.

Had I been in the know (Adam never did reply to my voicemails or emails), I would have been back down there for their last day. But it looks like they found someone who had a GoPro on a flatcar to do an engineer's view, so I'm glad they were able to do that without me. Looks as cool as I would have thought. And sadly I'm not able to take more photos of intriguing doorstops for you gents here, nor for a magazine article I was hoping to write. I may or may not post the 500ish photos I have that aren't necessarily magazine-worthy because of the amount of debris/clutter that was on the layout when I visited. I guess it doesn't really hurt them anymore since the layout is moving to a new home anyway.

They say they can move it in 2 Saturdays. I think its a little optimistic, but I wish them well. Was cool to see it in their original home, the way my dad saw it when he was a kid too.

Really great to hear that a place was found rather quickly to move to.
Good luck with the move and the future.
