Re: Hah! The newest buzzword for............
Actually the seller is calling the paint job "museum quality" although Rich imports excellent models, this is a much abused term by sellers. On another note in a recent newsletter from Division Point they note PSC is out of business. Was anybody aware the estate of the late Henry Bultmann was recently auctioned off April 4 by Cabin Fever Auctions some 200 lots the good brass went for serious money.

Interesting stuff! Mark Mogensen (sp?) was on a recent episode of "Monday Morning Express" and as best I recall, he said nothing about retiring.
Heard about the Bultmann auction AFTER the fact. Would be curious to see a list of the items and prices realized. Couldn't find anything on their website.
As for paint jobs, a very subjective thing. Rich had a guy that painted for him that was pretty decent. (At least the stuff I've seen!)
Re: Hah! The newest buzzword for............
The Division Point newsletter mentioned 3 imminent steam projects [HO]they picked up from "Mogie", google auctionzip.com no prices realized posted but full list with pics. I was told by a person Sat at Strasburg meet who went and bought some items that the Brass went high.

When was this auction, as I never heard anything about it. MIght be where the eBay Bultman estate sale loco came from, that is mentioned in the "Who can identify the builder" thread above.

Auction was April 4th this year. Go to the site Hibar suggests and select PA as the state and search for Bultmann. A lot of RS11's, a lot of parts, a few Train masters, maybe 3 or 4 of the SP 4-10-2's.
Hibar.....thanks for the help on locating the auction!

Yes, that would have been a very interesting auction. Looks like a lot of interesting parts and I like the construction equipment too.

PSC has already been sold. The company is already in transition to new ownership in Washington somewhere. Supposedly young folks taking it on, so maybe they'll be around for awhile. Apparently only continuing with the parts business, no longer going to import brass models.
NWSL is also for sale now. I don't think that one sold yet.
And of course San Juan and Grandt Line are both on the block at the moment.

I think we can expand Pecos John Smith's: "If you want to make a small fortune importing brass, start with a large one." to the hobby in general. It's a tough racket and kudos to any who can make a go of it and keep their sanity.

Where did you get that information?

Again already?

Those 2 I was aware of........
Don’t think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It’s self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can’t try to do things. You simply must do things.

Re: Hah! The newest buzzword for............
Heard about NWSL and PSC from another vendor last week. Then some guys from my Monday night group mentioned the NWSL availability last night.
There was a big fuss a while back, after the Indy show, about PSC selling out to Bill Davis. At the time, it was discussed over on OGR that Bill only picked up the excess parts inventory for PSC's imported models, a la his purchase of Overland parts inventory, and that the detail business was remaining with PSC with no intention of ending that arrangement. I talked with Pat at P&D at the time as he stocks essentially the whole line of PSC parts including HO and O, and he didn't know anything about PSC being on the move. So either it's a recent development or they successfully obfuscated back then. It's immaterial how things came to pass, the net result is the same.

Sanity has absolutely nothing to do with it.

It took me 15 minutes, but I did find it... here's the link:
CABIN FEVER AUCTIONS - BRASS O SCALE TRAIN AUCTION (WAS POSTPONED DUE TO THE SNOW STORMS!! TO: Wednesday, April 4th)
Click the "View Full Photo Gallery" link to see pictures and the "3/21 O Scale Brass (PDF)" links to see what they sold.
Several of the items from the auction have already been listed on ebay, such as the WM #1816 caboose as shown in the auctionzip listing and now on ebay, with a starting bid of $284.99.

Please realize that I don't really care but the topic of this thread changed very quickly.
So "Very Rare" is out?
