I came across this ebay buy-it-now listing:

The last photo attached to the listing seems to be an article clipped from a newspaper. There's a photo of Myron Gilbertson standing behind six steam locomotives. There is also a closeup photo of a GN 2-8-8-0. Underneath is this caption:

Myron Gilbertson, Frederic, is known across the United States for the detail of the model train engines he makes from scratch. He does the detail painting for a number of companies and individuals. He has built about a dozen engines, taking three years at the longest time for one, three months as the shortest time for another.

Was he a well-known builder/painter?

Don't know the name at all.

Maybe folks more centrally located know him.

I am guessing a LOT more people THINK they have the ability to build a structure than a locomotive, thus the reluctance to pay.

I have never heard the name, and the only town/city I know of close to that spelling is Frederick, Maryland with a"K" on the end.

I am guessing a LOT more people THINK they have the ability to build a structure than a locomotive, thus the reluctance to pay.

I don't know - they're perfectly willing to spend $'s on cars and engines, but not structures. I've heard form too many laser cutting structure sources now that the O scale market is a waste of time - they don't buy kits....but I suspect that's proportional to numbers of HO vs. O scale....

I've been looking into bringing one of my O scale kits back into production, but I'm not sure if it's worth the time and effort. I did it the 1st time as a basic box of sticks and some laser cut parts, and I kept the price as low as possible.......guess I might have broken even.

Being a highly-trained investigator, it didn't take long to locate info on the woman who took Myron's picture. However, further searches for Nancy have turned up the possibility that she is no longer with us, so the details of Myron's history may be lost.

Myron is also no longer with us. he died 5 years ago this weekend. I'm not sure what this page is. somehow it's about toy trains.

Seems a little small for O, only 10' tall. Could be the truck loading area, though; but not for semi trailers at 13'6".
Also, I, too, have never heard of this Myron.

Might be HO then? At least the seller has the presence of mind to provide measurements.
