Thanks! Given what I started with I'm moderately pleased with the outcome,

Probably TVRR - Tuscarora Valley RR

New ends and some new and old railings but new brake wheels. Had to really trowel in the wood filler where the ends were damaged from the couplers being ripped off.....

Well, it's coming along nicely and in the lettering queue - should get it done this week since I need that end of my bench back for another 4-wheel trolley project that's up against a deadline.

Back together and structurally stable....ready for the ends & railings, steps, and I found a smoke jack for the roof. Those paint chips show that this car was at one time painted yellow!

Calling this one done - might be able to do more with it but I think I've reached a point of diminishing returns...

I'll start in on building another one of these, or something as close as reasonable, from scratch now....

Rufus, not trying to be mean--would that really be considered a "hack" or Crummy" ? :) Still really nice work with what You received James.

Could be any of the terms that are more commonly used to describe a caboose, I suppose. I suspect that this specific one was termed a "van" connecting back to a more British domain of terminology.

Calling these done for now, too.

Would have to totally repaint the bodies.........but getting them both back on the track and operational seemed a better end point at this time.

Neat shorties Rufus, are these Sierra RR ? or some such western road prototype or total free-lance?
To me they're just begging for some spindly drivered 4-4-0 or mogul, with a head end box car or two.

Nice, but I think you should have lettered them for the Smokey Pokey:

I have a 4-4-0 to pull these, but restoring them is so far down the list that I doubt it will happen.

Why is it that these are so often yellow? Was yellow really a common color for passenger cars way back when?
