Protestors set fire to Waymo cars

Postby HONDO74 » Wed Jun 11, 2025 10:56 am

Why Waymos Have Been Vandalized by Protesters
https://news.yahoo.com/why-waymos-vanda ... 40339.html

Electric vehicles, like those in Waymo’s fleet, have lithium-ion batteries, and in a post on X, the L.A. Police Department warned: “Burning lithium-ion batteries release toxic gases, including hydrogen fluoride, posing risks to responders and those nearby.” According to Scientific American, first responders exposed to the fumes of burnt lithium-ion batteries without protection historically “have developed throat burns and breathing difficulties upon arriving,” and, depending on the hydrogen fluoride levels, individuals can start coughing up blood within minutes of exposure.

I'm really waiting to see how these ICE riots play out on the west coast. I want to see if Trump handles these in similar fashion as his predecessors across the aisle did/would/do. I expect this will get ugly and he'll take the gas for it.

I spent a summer in Gardena in 1968 after graduating from HS and saw the results of the riots which was still devastation 3 years later.

We had moved to Anaheim by then, still had relatives in Lennox and Inglewood. Saw the results. Watched on the B&W TV as the........clowns stood on overpasses with an open bucket of gasoline. One would dump unto automobiles while the second threw a burning book of matches.
I seem to recall most of the businesses in Watts didn't go back?
