According to Aristotle there were three types of government in the ancient world.

first there was monarchy. the rule of one.

then there was autocracy. the rule of the few.

then the third form democracy.the rule of many.

according to Aristotle each of the forms had it's virtues but also it's vices.

they would all inevitably be corrupted.

monarchy would eventually turn into tyranny.

autocracy would in time become oligarchy.

and democracy would always end in anarchy

Interesting, that in thousands of years, goodness has not evolved to make us a better species, only ways to be bad easier.
