Iphone 14

Postby v8vega » Wed Sep 07, 2022 11:25 pm

4 models regular With 6.1 screen and plus with 6.7 screen, regular has the same chip that 13 pro had. And pro with 6.1 and 6.7 screen. No more mini. Better camera especially in low light.
Looks about the same as a 13

Most new iPhone users are surprised at how simple they are to use.

Right.......just what people need to spend their money on now.

I sold my 6 awhile ago, it was in new condition with lots of battery life left. I just wanted a newer phone.

The wife and I had flip phones up until July of last year. Mine was made by Kyocera, military grade shock proof & waterproof. It was my first cell phone, and it took me 3 years to figure it out, (I'm cyber stoopid) Took good pictures, made and answered phone calls, fit in a shirt pocket easily, and that's all I needed, but it was stolen off my workbench at lunch time. I know I didn't leave it in somebody's car because the car I was waiting on the callback for was still in my stall. The phone always remained in the top of my tool box, but I was working on a problem car and waiting for a call back from the Chrysler STAR Center when it disappeared. I had been sitting on my bench right beside my laptop. I had one of the guys call my phone and there were no rings. Told the wife that evening that my phone was gone and to cancel it out. The next evening, my grand daughter came and she pinged my phone. She said "your phone is at the Armstrong County Hospital and is now registered to a female under AT&T, not Verizon". I told all the guys at work that we'd found the phone and what was going on. Amazingly, the following Monday, somebody brought the phone back to the dealership and said I'd left it in their car. WRONG! The AT&T sim card was gone, and the Verizon card was reinstalled. Anyway, it was too late as we'd already bought new phones and a new plat from Patriot Mobile, at a much cheaper price than Verizon. The new phones are Samsung A12s and I despise it. Fell out of my shirt pocket twice when bending down. It's big, it's heavy, and a PIA, but I did put the internet service on this one where I didn't have it on the old one. We paid $80 and change a month for 1 year for two phones and the service. Since the phones are paid off, the service is much cheaper now. I don't know how or why anybody would need a $1300 phone, but some folks just have to have the latest & greatest of everything.

Well there’s your first mistake.

Who died and left you in charge?

You sound like a bunch of old farts around the coffee pot at lunchtime. Back when we were kids, all you needed was two cans and a string and we got by just fine

Can’t you just be happy for people that want to spend $1300 on a smart phone because they enjoy having it?

Come on guys. What else would you put in that small $3,000 Coach handbag?

Had a nice little LG flip for six or seven years, but then AT&T nixed it in the 5G network changeover. Had to get a new phone, but AT&T cut me a break. Got an iPhone 12 for a buck per month for 36 months; my son got an iPhone 12 as well, but with more memory, for five bucks per month for 36 months. The iPhone likely has a thousand features, of which I use three (phone, texts, and an occasional photo). No interest in tweeting, watching movies, web-surfing, etc. May take a look at the map/directions capability eventually.

I refuse to accept technology for technologies sake,
If anybody wants to spend $1300 and support the PRC, go for it.
If anybody wants to spend $1300 and have their every move tracked, and everything they do sold to marketers, great.

I use what works.

This is being typed on an ancient Sony Vaio laptop with Windoze XP-32.
There are a LOT of folks who use XP still, even folks who write browsers just for XP.
My other machine is a Dell Precision 490 with factory XP-64.
XP does not have the code to provide Microslime the ability to track you, no Unique Advertising ID, no Telemetry, no updates. No viruses or trojans or hacks. Bad guys don't care. Last exploit was what, 8 years ago?

My car today was a 1964. This weekend was a 1950.
My sidearm is a Colt 1911 (not an A1).
My house is 1929.
My wife is 1949.
I have a VHS deck connected.
I have two reel-to-reel decks.
I have a vacuum tube RCA console radio that works.

The ONLY reason I even have a flip phone is A) I'm an old guy, and B) I drive old cars. Family insisted.

My 2-rail stuff is all US made.
I think my 3-rail stuff is all US made. Might be a couple of MPC POS.

In the corner of my office is a Symphonic CRT color TV that works.

Somebody gave us some big flat screen monitors, so the CRT monitors finally went away.

I quit doing sound when the last place decided they HAD to go digital. I think they lasted six months and shut down because nobody wanted to listen to that garbage. Gave up a couple of Mackie 32-8 boards to do that.

My three-rail is run with 35-year-old US made All-Trols off a ZW.
NO command control BS.

Go for it.

There's no fighting technology and trying to live off the grid is insane in our world. I hate invasive technology, but it's here to stay and to not get what I want/need is just punishing me....not the seller. Like I said on a different thread, the IP-13 obsoleted my Nikon DSLR and made it much more convenient to take photos, in any light conditions.

If that was directed to me, I am not living off the grid.

But I do continuously fight the invasion of privacy so many accept after screwing their blinders on.

There is nothing I need that invasive technology can provide.

Case in point:
I have friends who swallowed the whole technology line, they use their PC to look up some item they want to find, and suddenly their stupidphone 12.0 is full of ads for the item they looked up elsewhere.

Somehow I am bereft of the influx of undesired spam. Oh, woe is me.
And I have NEVER "synced" ANYTHING.

The loss or privacy is something everyone should fight. The reason it's there is the massive amount of campaign contributions to make sure laws are not passed to limit it....HERE.

Watch the UK and EU to see what lawmakers are doing to Microslime, Apple, Google and Faceplant.

THAT needs to happen here, but it won't for a while.

Put your stuff on the cloud?

Yeah, right. Most businesses I am familiar with realized they had no control....hackers? Tell me that doesn't happen and I put up links about starlets whose nude photos were hacked from the cloud and published.
Businesses put everything in-house, at least the ones who had a clue.

Law states if the gummint wants to look at your data in the cloud, they find a tame judge who gives them a pass, and the cloud owners are forbidden BY LAW to tell you there was a search of your data.

Financial records?
List of your firearms by serial number?
Church Membership?
NRA Membership?

No cloud here. 500 GB drives is more than enough for me.

Throw your old printer away? Most have memory, gummint wants, they pick it out of the trash and can see everything you copied or printed. At least a friend who works for a major Business Security outfit told me.

Ever thrown a computer out?

Did you save the RAM and pull the HDD and disassemble, beating it with a hammer until powder?

No?

Odd.

Are you not seeing where this is all headed?

All this lack of privacy. QR Codes. "Tap" your credit card. Swipe the face of your watch.

Next step is a chip implanted in your right hand or forehead. Swipe your hand in front of a scanner, they have your banking info, credit card info, health records, drivers license number, registration, tax records, and do whatever they need to associated with that "scan".

Revelations 13: 16-17 for a quick reference.
