Question for Murph

Postby E7 » Mon Aug 29, 2022 10:56 pm

Murph,

This one should be right up your alley. No tricks, or tomfoolery.

If you were taking a Mental Health Test, and one of the sections was titled:

Test If Your Depressed

How would you respond?

I'm not being a smart A$$, it's a legitimate question!

Rich, you got my curiosity up so I took the Depression Test.

My results:

You're showing few symptoms of depression
Your answers suggest that you are not suffering from depression. But remember that depression is a condition that affects different people in different ways. If you are concerned about your mood, speak to your GP for guidance.

Wayne, A lot more interesting/superior answer than I anticipated. Reminds me of an old "Momma" cartoon strip:

Momma is ironing and humming: "Tra La La", when one of her children enters the room and asks: "How are you Momma?" Momma responds: "Depressed, terribly depressed." to which the child replies: "You don't seem depressed." Momma responds: "When you've been depressed as long as I have been, you get good at it! Tra La La"

What I was after from Murph, who was an English teacher as best I recall, was his take (if he noticed it) on the use of "your", a possessive pronoun, in place of "you're", a contraction.

That error is prolific these days, most likely due to texting. OMG! Maybe I should have colorized your!

Test If Your Depressed

The above "Your" in the 1st post.

Grammar and spelling trolling - never was about depression, Wayne.

I was so depressed last night thinking about Health Care Plans, the economy, the wars, lost jobs, savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc. . ...

I called Lifeline. Got a call center in Pakistan . I told them I was suicidal. They got all excited and asked if I could drive a truck
