Chemo

Postby ScaleCraft » Thu Jan 06, 2022 1:49 pm

Wife's best friend's mother, 90+ years old. Month ago, went to the doctor, diagnosed with metastasized breast cancer (at 90+). Put her on Chemo. Triggered CHF, congestive heart failure, never had an issue before, stopped the chemo, Monday put her on in-home Hospice, Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, died in her sleep.

Never any issues until the chemo treatment. You hear stories, first one up close.

Never any pain......just the CHF came on after chemo.

Unfortunate. Congestive heart failure might have occurred even without whatever therapy she received. Most oncologists would have only given fairly gentle therapy in that situation in a woman of that age, so it's hard to comment without knowing the details (patient's other medical issues, exact drugs and dosages).

Yeah, but she had a full life and didn't experience cancer until very late.......I wouldn't wish chemo on anyone. It has serious side effects (but necessary) and a good oncologist monitors what his patient is experiencing and adjust the drugs accordingly.

Yes, I think we're missing a large amount of information.
Most of the trouble in the world is caused by people wanting to be important.
