I took my daughter out to study butterflies yesterday. Otherwise that word would have flown over my head in a cocoon.

I just did 2 laps around our acre, walking of course, but it is only 90 today.
Sometimes my legs don't seem to hurt so bad for a while after I walk.

It is good to get out and walk about some; sitting around all day is not good.

I agree but some days legs hurt bad enough I don't get far. Mostly arthritis problems.

I bought a bike and have been trying to ride 4-6 miles/day, weather and my leg muscles permitting. Biggest challenges are the roads/sidewalks. 2nd biggest challenge are the idiots driving while playing with their phones and pedestrians wearing earbuds and oblivious to everything going on around them.

I found an app for the phone that tracks my riding activities. I get a route map, average and max speeds and a graph of elevation changes. I have almost got the shift patterns down. This is my first 3 forward gear and 7 rear gear bike. It seems you can't just arbitrarily shift around because of the offset angles of the chain to the two sets of sprockets. Very different from my old 10 speed.

I do sleep better BUT I have learned that I need to wait about two hours AFTER eating to avoid digestion issues. Morning rides I do before breakfast. Afternoon I have to ride before dinner (not too likely with the heat we have been having) or go out around 7:30PM which is fine if we eat around 5-5:30. The sun doesn't actually set around here till after 9:30 PM but the drivers are pretty bad about paying attention and about half of both routes have no sidewalks and are on mile or "half mile" (aka main roads) with posted speeds of 40-45mph.

Have a helmet, turn indicators, and "side view" mirrors. Looking at a flashing red light for the back of the seat.

Oh dear, the topic enforcement troopers are here.....

Well, to return to topic.... that settlement is just 1 very small segment of the problem (settlement amount was minuscule in relationship to actual profits), one that was self inflicted and permitted by our own Gov't and could have been criminally pursued except that Congress interfered and blocked the DEA from taking action years ago. Congress got bought off again by pharma. This is also why healthcare and prescriptions are both ridiculous in this country. If our own Congress is effectively complicit in this aspect of opioid addiction in this country, all the rest of the influx of illegal drugs will never stop or ever be remotely controlled.

Wave your hands in the air about this all you want, but the real problem is the Congress/Pharma money pipeline. And, it's both parties, so that whine won't play

Well Rufus a while back you asked me not to post anything political in your ( seen in print thread ) and I have complied with that and didn't say you were a topic enforcement troopers. I try to keep all your threads on course and contribute to them...

CDC report shows record high 12-month drug overdose death toll
https://www.ky3.com/2021/10/15/cdc-repo ... eath-toll/

CNN) - New information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows a record number of Americans died from drug overdoses in a 12-month period.

During the pandemic, more than 96,000 drug overdose deaths were reported from March 2020 to March 2021.

”Each person who has lost their life during this time period has left behind a family and a community who misses them,” said Dr. Trent Hall, Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center addiction medicine specialist.

It is an increase of nearly 30% more deaths than the year before.

Vermont had the largest increase in overdose deaths of any state. Reported overdose deaths rose more than 85% in that time period.

”These tragic statistics really speak to the despair many Americans are feeling throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,” Hall said.

The CDC said opioids accounted for the highest number of overdose deaths followed by synthetic opioids, excluding methadone.

Hall’s research on the overdose crisis in Ohio was published in Jama Network Open last year.

He said the increase in the synthetic opioid fentanyl is highly concerning.

”Fentanyl is coming to contaminate local drug supplies in new areas, and that’s pretty scary,” he said.
