First thoughts that come to mind?

To remind my son to remember to do something appropriate.

Thanksgiving and Christmas are never the same after your mother dies.

Absolutely, especially if your mom held Thanksgiving Day and Christmas at her house. If you had a matriarch mom or grandmother who held the celebration......................big changes are coming.

I really did not need to be reminded.

My wife is a mother, so we'll celebrate her on Sunday. One of my sons sent her a gazillion tulips, knowing she loves flowers. I'm off the hook :).

At least I did not get her a bowling ball drilled for my hand, as Homer Simpson would have done.

Just another Hallmark Holiday and excuse to sell things as far as I'm concerned. But I grudgingly participate, for my wife's sake, who enjoys it. I feel the same about Father's Day. I don't need any more crap that will someday just clog a landfill. If anything, I'd want my sons to go fishing with me.

Besides, if you honor your mother, father, secretary, etc., on their special day, do you get a pass to treat them like crap the rest of the year? I'd much rather strive to express appreciation all year long.

Perhaps, there should be a new holiday:
Women's Day,
celebrating the unique abilities and characteristics women contribute, in all cultures, worldwide, to the survival and success of their own friendships, families , societies , and cultures.

I'd vote for that . In fact, if I had the appropriate platform and energy needed to suggest such a holiday to the world, or at least to the USA , I would do so .

Already exists and you missed it -> International Women's Day was March 8, 2021
