Media containment and manipulation of the news is maybe the scariest concerns of our times. Right up there with cyber attacks and misinformation. The common man had nothing to go on but his experience and common sense and sadly common sense is rare among radical minority groups and most youth in our world.

A few years back I was in line at a local supermarket and a young couple were ahead of me. The guy reads the headline on one the scandal sheets that are ubiquitous at these places, and seeing a headline about an Elvis sighting, says: "See, he's still alive!"

I responded: So, if I go to a print shop and have them print: Scientists report the moon is made of green cheese." You are going to believe it?

No response, just a stupid look.

Maybe part of our "new" education where reading and writing skills are eliminated or downsized. It seems like this combined with cell phones and online news, no one reads beyond the headline and misinformation if epidemic. Political elections are won on that sadness.

My daughter is going to school in Slovakia. She’s in the sixth grade. This year she is struggling with one glass. Her teacher writes notes on the blackboard in cursive. My kid can’t read it. Her teacher wad blown away by this. Amazed that US schools don’t teach it. Her teacher in Slovakia is a very nice lady. She comes after school to help my daughter read and write cursive. My daughter in return teaches the teacher’s kid English. Do you think a teacher from the USA would do this? I don’t. They woukd just say the kid is failing

We're are really dumbing down our kids with today's public schools. I'm sure teaches have their hands tied being politically correct so they don't piss off parents of the kids who don't care to learn. And the kids who want to learn pay the price. I don't even recognize our schools any more.
