It appears that most of the time they are passing new legislation to benefit their sponsors. In the process we the people get screwed.

Their "sponsors" - polite wording,  Their owners is more likely. While they look to ethics legislation for the supreme court, they need to take a hard look in the mirror and accept the same restrictions that they imposed on the rest of the Gov't.

Biden vetoes bipartisan bill protecting US solar panel makers from Chinese competition
'The president’s position, and today’s veto, fails to hold China accountable and hurts American workers,' Democratic lawmaker says
President Biden vetoed a bipartisan resolution Tuesday that would have reversed his executive action last year ordering the Department of Commerce not to enforce tariffs on Chinese solar panel manufacturers for two years.

Biden explained that the legislation — which recently passed the House and Senate with Democratic support — "bets against American innovation." Last year, Biden implemented the 24-month moratorium on the enforcement of solar panel anti-circumvention tariffs designed to protect U.S. companies, a move the White House said would facilitate investment in domestic solar panel production capabilities.

"Passage of this resolution bets against American innovation," Biden said in a statement Tuesday. "It would undermine these efforts and create deep uncertainty for American businesses and workers in the solar industry. Therefore, I am vetoing this resolution."

Someone doesn't understand how tariffs work (or don't work) and who pays them.

But politicians got to be politicians,

Biden falls

As much as you want to feel sorry for this senile old fool, you really can't. He's a lifelong grifter, never holding an actual job while selling access to our enemies. The reality is he should not be in this position, but the Democrats have a habit of keeping live corpses employed (Feinstein, Pelosi, "Big Nads" Nadler, Biden, et al).

As most doctors agree on, it's not old age that kills a person. It's the falls that happen to them in old age that usually kills them. If Corn Pop's massah is falling like this, and we're only in June of '23, there's no chance he makes it to the election next year without suffering some major damage after falling. Had he hit his head directly -- even though there's likely no brain activity in that hollow gourd of his -- he could have very easily become even more of a vegetable than he currently is.

And if he does crack his head and become (more) incapacitated, we're stuck with Vice President Cackler!

Well, the incapacitated guy just managed to totally thwart the attempt by right wing lunatics (and a few left wing lunatics) to destroy the world economy :). If this is incapacitation, our nation needs more of it.

To you conservatives, any time someone wants to help the poor, improve the fairness of society, one is a left wing lunatic. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before you want to reinstitute monarchy and slavery :). And take the vote away from women perhaps. The good old days....

Too bad the woke people threw out the monarchs and instituted a republic/democracy. And giving women the vote? That's about as woke as it gets.

We don’t know because it has never happened. Serious economists thought it was a possible gigantic problem to undermine confidence in the US government’s reliability. You can be sure if the radical right had their way we would have found out. Kudos to the sane Republicans who supported the compromise. The crazies may have their day but not today thankfully.
