I watched all of it and felt it was refreshing and exactly what was needed. From Garth Brooks' and Lady Gaga's remarkable inclusions, to what President Biden said , the entire event seemed proper, balanced, and appropriate for the time and place.

I have a feeling, further, that it may have the right calming and hopeful effect on the American People.

I'd love to learn your reactions , whether in agreement with me or in disagreement . Conversation can be a healthy matter, given the right sense of open-mindedness , empathy, courtesy, and openness .

Remember how they said. “ this is the new norm”? Lets hope not. Face coverings, small groups and our capitals filled with armed guards. Aint that grand. Welcome to the new norm.

So far so good. The test of bipartisanship will come in the coming weeks. All we need is a handful or two of Republicans in the House and literally a handful in the Senate who are willing to work together on dealing with the pandemic, the economy/unemployment, the need to provide a pathway to citizenship for those who have been in the country literally all their lives, etc., and initiate changes in climate policies. These are pressing issues and should be non-partisan to a great extent. Problems that need addressing. Biden has shown calm and humility and expressed a commitment to bipartisan solutions and willingness to incorporate as many viewpoints as possible. We'll see how that works and judge afterward. Stopping people from starving, being evicted and financial ruin should be a high priority. National policies on public health measures and vaccination are essential.

They were talking about impeachment when Trump was elected on week one

Turns out who ever was predicting impeachment were right x 2. And this time 10 Republican representatives voted in favor of impeachment. It's Trump not the system. Don't be a sore loser. You backed a guy who is not only completely out of his mind, but a criminal, trying to use his office to coerce a foreign country into accusing his opponent of crimes that never happened. And then he decided it might be a good idea to incite a riot in which the insurrectionists threatened to assassinate elected officials. What a swell chap. Winner of this year's Benedict Arnold Most Valuable Traitor award. Deserves to spend his life in prison, frankly, just on the basis of his corruption and threat to democracy and the lives of others.

Liz Cheney? Tom Rice? Dan Newhouse? Adam Kinzinger? Anthony Gonzalez? Pete Meijer (took over Amash seat who left the party last year)? The only two that are in even "moderate" districts are David Valadao, and John Katko. All were deeply offended by what Trump engaged in, some for the simple reason he put their lives in danger and was no where to be seen or heard from when the sh*t hit the fan.

Not all politicians are as corrupt or venal as you seem to think. There are still people of principal around who found the attack on the Capital to be a line that is so far out of bounds that they won't cross it.

What I find more disturbing is the number of people who were not offended/concerned. We need to stand up to fill-in-the-blank (China, Russia, social justice groups at home...) but we will keep cow-towing/apologizing for his bad behavior? Why? Because he is "our" bully it's ok to give him a pass.

The emperor has no clothes! Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain! He told the idiots that broke into the capitol that he was going to march with them! Did he? No way, he went off and hid in the White House. Now a bunch of dim bulbed sheep are going to face serious jail time and their only "defense" is "But he told me to do it!". That didn't play well with my parents, my teachers, the nuns and priests at school, the local cops, ......

More baseless claims. I guess DC was boarded up prior to November 3rd because Trump supporters were going to burn it down when he won...makes sense to me. It’s like all the violence that never broke out at Trump rallies. Talk about tin hat conspiracy theories. I’m sure he called for riots during his own inauguration in 2016.

Check out their postings on FaceBook and YouTube. Some of them are only now understanding how unbelievably stupid that was! WTF, let's do something seriously illegal and then photograph/video myself (and/or friends) doing it AND post it on the internet. What could possibly go wrong with this plan.

Many of them have stated "he told me to do it" not that it's going to do them much good. Even if you did wear a mask and didn't post it publicly your phone leaves an electronic trail. They can tell where the phone was up to within a couple of hundred feet (GPS tracking, they use it to find people who are missing). The camera phone registers the location INTERNAL to the image files. Dumb, dumb, dumb!

Cool story, bro'. I guess facts no longer matter.

Fact: the attacks on the Capital Building were planned days before the actual attack by some militant groups.
Fact: A BLM activist (who CNN's Anderson Cooper interviewed (the activist passed himself off as a journalist )) took part in and incited damage.
Fact: Trump's comments to the crowd "to peacefully go to the Capital and make our voices heard" started 10 minutes after the attack.

This whole sordid 2nd impeachment bears a great deal of resemblance to that fake Russian collusion hoax. You know, the one where

• There was never a shred of evidence of wrong-doing?
• Evidence was falsified to get FISA warrants?
• Obama's administration used the national intelligence and justice infrastructure to spy on a political opponent? No big deal, right? That's all the rage in banana republics these days.

Sorry Neil, you're wrong. Utterly, completely, unmistakably wrong. I get that you don't like Trump, but the facts don't support your statement.

I haven't been paying any attention to the Inauguration. What were thousands of National guards doing today. Were they fighting back all the PROTESTERS and RIOTERS or just standing around with their thumbs up their A$$
