Somewhere in Time

Postby HONDO74 » Mon Mar 23, 2020 1:34 am

If it was possible to travel back in time and you were given the opportunity to do so, Where would you choose to go ?

You can't participate in where you choose to go and you can't change anything. All you can do is observe. I have thought about this over the years, I was watching a movie the other night that got me to thinking about it again. The movie did have a time traveler in it maybe or maybe not and where it took place is where I would choose to go. Will explain later..

The Big Bang.

Sounds messy. You'd get exploding universe all over yourself.

Why would I want to go back in time? I could read a book, or watch a TV show about it. I'd rather go to the future, and see how we overcome death, and tin whiskers.

Presuming that one would be there as an unknown/unseen observer, back to see the solution to one of the great unsolved mysteries or crimes...Jack the Ripper or maybe Valerie Percy or Jon Benet. The final choice would require some study.

We probably all would like to see something significant in history and so would I.
I would like to have seen the part of rhe world that I know best ( and that is not a lot ) that which is the present day United States
before the forests, topography and animal life was so altered by man. The idea that so much was covered by forests, bison herds
and bird flocks would take quite a bit of time to pass by. Maybe one to two thousand years ago in the Americas.
I have never been to other parts of the world but I am sure they would be just as interesting.
I did not say I wpuld want to live then. Just visit as Hondo says.

Interesting. You'd find lots of disillusioning stuff. On the other hand, it would be interesting to know precisely why Hitler was genocidal.

Not sure that being present at the big bang would all that interesting, probably very, very, very confusing.

I would probably pick something more mundane like JFK's shooting though I suspect that being there/seeing it won't change anything or help me understand it any better.

Maybe seeing the reflooding of the Mediteranean after the last great glacial meltdown?

Is that when the Black Sea went from a freshwater lake, to a saltwater inland sea?
