For those that were discussing this recently:

Well that's great! Hopefully these folks have a clear understanding of what's ahead and a source of funding. I look forward to getting back up there and seeing their progress.

Thanks for posting the link. It is great news when former industry leaders get involved in trying to preserve something like the East Broadtop.

I keep hoping The Henry Ford will get the GG1 they purchased just before the great recession moved back to Dearborn for restoration before she dissolves into a pile of rust.

If I were visiting Pennsylvania For York this would be on my list of things to do. I would like to see it and if they had excursions I would do that also,

Will they be able to generate enough income to keep it operational like the narrow gauge in Colorado.?

Really remains to be seen. They really have to pour some serious money into just about everything to be able to maximize operations of any kind.

If I read the announcement correctly, they sold off just the railroad and not the rest of the holdings. At one point, what they wanted to sell what the entire holding, land, mines, etc.

We have a thread about the EBT sale over on the Narrow Gauge Discussion Forum - EBT: Nonprofit Buys East Broad Top Railroad, Plans to Renovate and Reopen [Press Release]

(I was given the press release in advance, so I could post it the moment the embargo was lifted.)

I did not realize that they had sold off the small switcher up at Mt. Union. :? :?
