Apparently, Italy is taking the virus seriously, considering the several hundred cases they've had to date. In fact, they actually closed all churches (I never heard of that before) and forbade the celebration of Masses at any of the churches, last Sunday. All of the clergy with whom I associate were stunned.

On a more serious note, I am confused.

We are being told, sort of, that this is a terrible disease. BUT we are not being told much more.
Is there a cure? How do you get the virus? Not get the virus? How long does it take to get sick?
To get over it?How did it start and from what?

Maybe if enough die from this, like from the Black Death, many of the Earths problems will be over.
That is not my idea, I read it somewhere in an article about conspiracy theories.

Any place that gathers together people is problematic - think movie theaters, etc.

It's at least a 2% death rate and maybe as high as 3%, but we are also probably not getting accurate infection numbers; that number could be much higher and that would drop the death percentage. Transmission seems similar to flu and colds. No cure. Symptoms may appaer within 7-14 days, but varies. Not get it - get in the bunker and stay there? Isolation and low contact with others. Good analogy I hear recently was to treat this as getting prepared for a hurricane. Start and from what? Viruses mutate all the time - sometimes it's bad....

Maybe if enough die from this, like from the Black Death, many of the Earths problems will be over.

Probably should shove conspiracy theories back under a rock with their originators....and them put a bigger rock on top of them.

Cases now on every continent except Antarctica.......

How coronavirus in China could cause drug shortages in America
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/coronaviru ... fda-warns/

At particular risk of running short is the U.S. supply of antibiotics such as amoxicillin, doxycycline, penicillin and other key drugs, with experts noting that 90% of their core components are sourced in China.

Demand for the anesthetics epinephrine and propofol, as well as pain reliever fentanyl, is also increasing at hospitals in China that are treating patients with coronavirus. Their supply is limited, and China could start stockpiling medical ingredients to treat its own citizens, some experts warn.

Medical writer Rosemary Gibson, author of "China Rx," which highlights the U.S.'s dependence on China for medicine, has long advocated for the rebuilding of domestic drug production capabilities to safeguard the U.S. from a disruptive event like the coronavirus outbreak.

The FDA has a list of 150 prescription drugs drugs facing shortage risks, Axios reported over the weekend, citing sources familiar with such a list.

They will move production over to India where a lot of this production work is already in place.

Does using hand-sanitizer actually help against this super virus?
I use it often, esp. when having been in contact with others.
I have made it a habit, quite some time ago, of opening public doors, such as upon entering a bank or our church, using a bit of tissue, or paper, or even the occasional leaf, to avoid touching the handles.

I tried to buy some dust masks today. Home Depot was sold out. They claimed it was due to corona virus.
I spend entirely too many hours a day tying my shoes

Unknown. However, what is even better is to not have contact with others.

You're a couple of weeks too late. Wouldn't help anyway...
