The OK Sign
The OK Sign
This is total BS in my opinion
When the OK Sign Is No Longer OK
https://news.yahoo.com/ok-sign-no-longe ... 23948.html
It has been commonly used for generations to signal “OK,” or all is well.
It supposedly has also been appropriated for a more malign purpose — to signify “white power.” The gesture has become an extremist meme, according to the Anti-Defamation League.
Now, officials at West Point and Annapolis are investigating whether cadets and midshipmen who made the sign with their hands during television coverage of the Army-Navy football game Saturday were doing so to express racist sentiments.
So the "OK" hand sign has been appropriated. That is also true for the term "Gay" which for hundreds of years meant to have an inward feeling and outward reaction of happiness.

I think this is the 2nd time you've posted about this subject.
Maybe the BS is racist groups.

Re: The OK Sign
So the A-OK sign is now politically incorrect, just use the "thumb's up" sign. They haven't hi-jacked that one or associated it with some abominable racism thing yet, have they?
If you agree with the Progressives, it's freedom of speech. If you disagree, it's hate speech. There are no alternatives.

Nope. Using the A-OK sign whenever I feel like it. Why should I, or anyone, be intimidated by the irrational?

Motions with the hands well worth the seeing (and luxuriating in):
Alexander Sinchuk playing Rachmaninoff's "Piano Concerto No.2 in c minor, op18 "
So far beyond "OK" I can't even try to explain it to you .
(Prepare to gasp in joy by the last note of it.)

Breathing has just been declared politically incorrect and offensive due to the sharing of exchanged molecules. Everyone is advised to stop now.

Murph, it is Rachmaninoff, not, Rachmanioff
I can understand why you like that piece, having also lost my wife also and gone through depression with a slow recovery.
Rachmaninoff is describing his own depression and recovery in this, his Piano Concerto No. 2. And yes, the last few notes are extremely light-hearted & happy, the last note is like a punctuation mark!

Re: The OK Sign
Thanks, very much, Wayne, for catching that error. I had made the entry too speedily. I have known the correct spelling since Music History class in undergrad school (some spellings use "ov" in place of the "f's" at the end of his name.)

I never knew that. Thank you.
I re-watched the YouTube video again and watched for those closing notes as played by Alexander Sinchuk, and what you said here explains his exuberance, in addition to what I saw as his joy at such beauty and having played it so well. Thanks, again. I'm so moved by this pianist's concert that I can barely speak by the final notes, and my eyes are leaking.
So, from what you have said, it appears I received Rachmaninoff's message well.

Agreed. This is total manure.

Re: The OK Sign
Does the sign, the thumb and forefinger joined together in a circle, the remaining three fingers splayed out behind, mean “all’s good?” Or does it mean “white power” (O-KKK) instead?
The answer: You’re being trolled.
In early 2017, after a controversy arose over whether Gateway Pundit publisher Jim Hoft and a writer for his site flashed the “white power sign” at the White House Press Briefing Room, the trolls at 4chan responded with a hoax they titled “Operation O-KKK.” The plan? “We must flood twitter and other social media websites with spam, claiming that the OK hand signal is a symbol of white supremacy. Make fake accounts with basic white girl names and type things like: OMG that’s so truuuuu…”
The joke has now made it to MTJ, to be talked and argued about for years to come. Y'all been trolled:> https://youtu.be/gvYfRiJQIX8

Then again may you are. You might ask Brenton Tarrant about it

Brenton Tarrant used the OK sign in a negative way to cause negative reactions in others because he wanted attention. I do not care to give him more attention by speaking to him.

And he succeeded as do so many others; sort of like this entire thread.
