RAGE, the Book

Postby HONDO74 » Sat May 26, 2018 11:19 am

The average King fan may not be familiar with the 1977 book “Rage.” Originally published under his pen name, Richard Bachman, King wrote the novel in 1966 while he was still in high school.

This book is out of print and King wants it kept that way....WHY ??
You will have to read the whole story to understand it it.
Why Stephen King's school shooter book 'Rage' is out of print, and a copy costs $500
http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/20 ... s-500.html

It has to do with how many school shooters had the book in their possession.

From the article.
“It took more than one slim novel to cause (the shooters) to do what they did. These were unhappy boys with deep psychological problems, boys who were bullied at school and bruised at home by parental neglect or outright abuse,” he wrote in “Guns,” (via USA Today). “My book did not break (them) or turn them into killers; they found something in my book that spoke to them because they were already broken. Yet I did see ‘Rage’ as a possible accelerant which is why I pulled it from sale. You don’t leave a can of gasoline where a boy with firebug tendencies can lay hands on it.”

I read it long ago when I was able to enjoy his works under that name. Most of them are quite good and I think at least 1 was made into a movie.

Though I stand at a considerable distance from them, I have a feeling none of those boys were doing much reading, not even of Mr. King's work. When you hear about them and see the result of their angst, reading novels doesn't zip to the top of the list of their motivators, not in my mind, at least.

However, I do theorize their anger and aggression likely had a whole lot to do with unsatisfied sexual needs and expressions. All of them.

I agree, and I don't see them running out to buy $500 OOP books either.

However, I do theorize their anger and aggression likely had a whole lot to do with unsatisfied sexual needs and expressions. All of them.

It all started with the first man and woman.

"But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad, you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will certainly die.
--Genesis 2:17

So she (Eve) began taking of its fruit and eating it. Afterward, she also gave some to her husband (Adam) when he was with her, and he began eating it.
--Genesis 3:6

And thus knowledge of evil and darkness entered into man, manifesting itself with the first murder.

After that Cain said to his brother Abel: “Let us go over into the field.” So while they were in the field, Cain assaulted his brother Abel and killed him.
--Genesis 4:8

Leading to poems (prayer) begging protection from the evil that lurks in darkness.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

--Psalm 23:4

Death lurks in everything, even Muph's beloved aria, "Nessum Dorma."
MurphOnMillerAve wrote:Class:
"Nessun Dorma," aria, as sung by Andrea Bocelli.

Excerpt from Nessum Dorma:
Ma il mio mistero è chiuso in me
Il nome mio nessun saprà!
No, no, sulla tua bocca lo dirò
Quando la luce splenderà!
Ed il mio bacio scioglierà
Il silenzio che ti fa mia!
ll nome suo nessun saprà
E noi dovrem, ahimè! Morir! Morir!
Dilegua, o notte! Tramontate, stelle!
Tramontate, stelle! All'alba vincerò!
Vincerò! Vincerò!

Meaning:
But my secret is hidden within me
My name no one shall know!
No, no, On your mouth I will tell it
When the light shines!
And my kiss will melt
The silence that makes you mine!
No one will know my name
And we must, alas! Die! Die!
Run away, o night! Set back, stars!
Set back, stars!, At dawn I will win-!
I will win! I will win!

The silence that makes you mine... death.

And how to accomplish this devilish task?
One does not have to read a book to figure out a way.

The man is thinking, "That's it! I will kill them all, then she will notice me."

"Active Shooter," a video game that allows players to simulate a school shooting

The game is set to be released on June 6 and will be available on Steam, a digital distribution platform developed by Valve. Players are given the option to either be a SWAT team member or the shooter while simulating a shooting in a school environment.

Lanza's descent to madness and murder: Sandy Hook shooter notched up 83,000 online kills including 22,000 'head shots' using violent games to train himself for his massacre

In 1989, 17-year-old Dustin Pierce took a classroom of 11 students hostage at gunpoint in Jackson County High School in McKee, Kentucky while reportedly trying to recreate the plot of “Rage.” After a nine-hour standoff, he surrendered to police.

In 1987, Jeffrey Lyne Cox held 60 classmates at gunpoint at San Gabriel High School in California before being disarmed by some of the students. He was known to have read “Rage” multiple times The Los Angeles Times reported.

But the experts say these books and video games have no effect on children. Therefore parents don't have to worry or be concerned about what books or video games their kids read or games they play ?

The people come up with this GARBAGE should be litigated into oblivion.......and one step above them on the totem pole of sleaze is the PRESS/NEWS MEDIA that sensationalizes this crap providing a template for the next nut case.

Wayne, thank you for the Scripture. BTW, I always disliked Psalm 23 due to the mentioned shadow. Recently, it was pointed out to me that if there is a shadow, there is a LIGHT somewhere close by! Hallelujah!
