Reverse Image on Broadcast

I was watching local TV coverage of storm damage the last couple of days. The reporters were riding around town using what I presume was their cell phone camera to do the live broadcast. I noticed that their image was broadcast in reverse. Can any of you explain to me why the image shows reversed?

I'll try and explain what i think is happening. Those reporters that chase storms lack common sense. What you see is a cellphone that has been turned to a mirror option. When people want to primp and preen they turn their cellphone around and stare at the screen. If you try to put lipstick on while looking into your phone it wont work. You'll a reverse of what your trying to do. As your right hand touches the right side of your face it will show as the left side of your face on your screen. So you hit the mirror option on your phone. This will reverse your screen so you can place lipstick on. Now something happens that you need to record. You turn your phone around to catch a falling tree and it is filmed in in mirror image option. Hard to notice until you see a billboard or road sign. Did that long winded explanation help or cloud it?

Thanks. Not having such a phone I never knew it might have such a function.

Thanks for the explanation. So, this is what happens in "selfie" mode! I guess that I had never had something in writing on my clothing to make me notice what was going on.

I have on multiple occasions noted that I have no need of a smart phone and that a simple flip phone satisfies my needs. Why is that so surprising to you?

First of all, I was just trying to be a little jocular, albeit cliche', in my feigned amazement. Yet, let me assure you that I, too, still have a flip-phone, used nowadays when I take my trips and/or hikes, as an extra backup. My main phone has become my iPhone because it allows me to get email when away from my laptop computer (which I do not take with me out of the house) and to make and receive calls when in the car. I also enjoy the fact that it takes photos, many of which I have shared as illustrations of points I have made on this forum. Many of the times I am on this forum and others, I am accessing them using the iPhone.

I was just trying to encourage you. in an odd way, to consider having one since they are so convenient. And considering your valuable position in the world, I did find it amazing you had not availed yourself of that extra bit of convenience, not that it is any of my business, of course.

Happy flipping.
Murph

It's also a burden that I do not need, and while there are useful aspects, I find tha tI cannot use them myself when most needed, so as for navigating when driving.

I have no need to text; if I want to communicate with someone, I call them and talk to them - that failing, e-mail - that failing, I stop trying.

I had been like that, too, using the phone to converse. However, when folks text or email me, I answer them, usually, via the medium they have elected to use at that moment . Having my little business of Layout Refinements just about compelled me to have an e-address, and then a website.

There may still be hope for me because I still have tons of paper files and never hit the "Go Paperless" option when paying bills or banking, because I do not want to be paralyzed if the electricity goes out or if the computer punks-out on me.
:)
P.S. I'm on the iPhone , now, typing this reply to you as I sit in the kitchen having breakfast and watching CBS News, Sunday Morning.

"I find tha tI cannot use them myself when most needed, so as for navigating when driving." Rufus. I find my smartphone to be a must. You would not believe the number of customers that can't tell me how to get to their house. Finding a road map today is next to impossible. There are many drawbacks with a smartphone. My clients send texts all day long. Can i see a photo of my furniture? Can you hold a piece of blue cloth next to it? I'd like to she what it would look like with blue drapes. My voicemail Says " i only call people back on Wednesday" " send an email If we don't respond don't worry we got and feel no need to respond."

You bring up an interesting point, from my perspective, Robert - clients and their texting.

Because all my customers and clients have become accustomed to communicating via texting and/or e-mail, I cannot keep any inventory whatsoever. They contact me, ask what I have ready for the next TCA Meet @ York, PA, and ask that I send them photos. When I do, they make the purchase and tell me to send the finished Insta-Rama to them. Since UPS has proven to be so very dependable - not one single item has ever arrived with anything dislodged or broken - I no longer have any need to attend the York Meet. I certainly can't show-up with no product.

Thus, my last event there, seen below, which Sold Out totally, was, indeed, my last. I surrendered the booth space to Andre, a fine gentleman with a fine product line. :D The iphone's ability to take a very clear photo and to send it right out as an attachment to a texting or on an email has changed the way I do business, all of which helps take the strain off me physically, immensely.

So, you're still making your Insta-Ramas?
