One can only hope that they have learned the lesson of not excessively mucking about with the story, e.g. Lord of Rings......but even they mucked about with The Hobbit terribly.

Even so, I might actually brave a theater to see Dune.

So, did anyone go see the new Bond movie?

I shall wait for it to come out on DVD. No way will I go to a movie theater where you can't social distance from a crowd Even if you are wearing a mask and had both your shots. You can still get the virus. Best to be safe than sorry.

I had to ask since we seem to have folks that are still actively denying that there even is a virus. Apparently it pulled in ~$55 mill the 1st weekend; heard from one group that that was good and another that was disappointed.

Not clear that this movie was included in the licensing package that Netflix did recently.

It'll be available somewhere.........

It’s a tangled web of ownership with oo7. Amazon owns 50 percent. I sure Plenty Of Time to count ( the money that is) will greatly help in untangling it.

Interesting, but Amazon was one name that I did not see involved. And, it's not just the franchise but this specific movie seems particularly complicated on who owns what aspect(s) of its distribution. Greed will tell...

This is interesting.....China giving Hollywood a run for it's money.

The Chinese film beating Bond and Marvel at the box office
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-58868854

Commissioned by the Chinese government, The Battle At Lake Changjin is just one of several nationalist films which have become big commercial hits in China in recent years.

The biggest movie in the world right now is not the latest Bond film No Time To Die or even Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

It's a Chinese propaganda film about the 1950s Korean War, centred on a story of Chinese soldiers defeating American troops despite great odds.

In just two weeks since its release, The Battle at Lake Changjin has made over $633m (£463m) at the box office. This puts it far ahead of Shang-Chi's global earnings of $402m, and in just half the time.

It is set to become China's highest-grossing film ever.

Captive audience does contribute to that just a wee bit.

Nor I, actually. I think I've not seen the last 2 as well.

There's a surprisingly large number of movies out now.....mildly more interested in the new Ghostbusters movie -- it's got to be better than that horrific reboot with the all female casting job.

I've been boycotting Hollyweird since sometime LAST century. Also gave up on Pro sports several years back. Ditched the TV 4 or 5 years ago. Don't miss any of it!

Most of the stuff I watch is on You Tube or DVD (but not much new stuff), which I guess is 2nd hand Hollyweird.

Read a few books now and then.
