Replacing the internal combustion engine in a classic car, is one way of preserving the original drivetrain for the next owner. In the meantime one can drive the classic hither and yon with no fear of wearing out the original.

Mechanic wrecks $3 million Ferrari Enzo during test drive
Car was being serviced at a garage in The Netherlands
https://www.foxnews.com/auto/mechanic-w ... test-drive

Only 399 production Enzos, named after company founder Enzo Ferrari, were built from 2002 to 2004. The mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive coupe is powered by a 651 hp 6.0-liter V12 and sold new for $650,000.

The cars regularly trade on the collector market for $2.5 million to $3 million today, with the record sale price standing at $3.8 million for a barely driven example painted a particularly rare Rosso Scuderia red.

This will not BUFF OUT.

LA has one of the steepest streets probably in the world. Residential area about a block or two long. As a stunt with people videoing it he went over the crest at high speed in a rented Tesla, airborn for quite aways and landed on the downhill and hit two parked cars getting stopped. He got into a waiting car and they are looking for him, there is a reward. Tesla they say is totaled.

There's a reality that these EV nuts haven't come to grips with yet.

The median age of vehicles on the road today is about 12 years, and that median age is going up.

So,

If the magic fairys zap every automobile manufacturing plant in the world tonight, and if they all start producing 100% electric vehicles tomorrow, and if people like the new EVs just as much as they like today's new cars and buy them just as quickly to replace their older vehicles, and that likely will require an electrical grid that can charge half of the vehicle fleet which will be EV without collapsing (none of which is likely given current technology), then in 2034, 12 years from now, fully half of the vehicles on the road will still be ICE powered vehicles. And that's the quickest possible changeover to EV.

The states, Maryland for one, need to start enforcing the "antique" vehicle registration process. The other day I saw a Honda Odyssey minivan with Maryland "Historic" plates  , and I've seen more than one 20+ year-old work truck (pick-up with a rack and ladders on the back, company name on the side), also sporting "Historic" plates. Folks are registering these things "Historic" to avoid the state emission test requirements (and to get reduced registration fees).

Way too many "ifs". None of that is happening or going to happen.

Premium? Have not had any need for that since the 90's.

Regular was $3.69 in MD last Sat., and $4.09 yesterday in VA.
