Car Thread
Since some of us seem to have a casual interest in automobiles, photos of which we have been posting in the Tractor Thread or the Hobo Jungle it seemed logical to create a Car Thread.
Seen on the square in beautiful downtown Painesville on Friday evening, a 1942 Lincoln Continental Convertible. V 12 engine, 4 speed manual plus overdrive and power windows.

Re: Car Thread
The interior metal parts are finished in 24 Karat gold and I suspect the knobs are genuine elephant ivory.

Re: Car Thread
That is one seriously lovely automobile. This must have been one of the last of the 136 Cabriolets built in 1942 before they shut down car production for the war, not to resume until late '45.
Thanks for posting and starting the thread.

Re: Car Thread
One has to wonder who would buy and drive a pink Lincoln with 24K trim and ivory knobs.
Probably a good reason why it survives.
But looky at the little red Strumpet TR on the grass!

Re: Car Thread
Wow...Allard J2...one of only 90 built. A Cadillac-powered J2 finished 3rd at Le Mans in 1950.
Looks like a De Tomaso Pantera next to the GT 500...
Watkins Glen...very nice! The Grand Prix Festival and vintage racing is scheduled for Sept. 11th...been once, a lot of fun.

The Allard and Maserati are rolling art. Beautiful!

There might be those who disagree.
Maybe a new meaning for the term "Butt Ugly"?

From a few weeks ago, a 1949 Crossley Hot Shot. Vertical shaft and bevel gear driven single overhead cam 4 cylinder with disc brakes.

Re: Car Thread
Hey, this thread is going to be fun!
That Lincoln is so pretty it almost hurts to look at it. Sure would have loved a close-up of some of that 24 karat.
Me, I know nothing about cars, having driven dogs all my life. Just wasn't part of my culture growing up.
Sure do like to look at them though.
For instance, here's some white ones...
