That Indian story is BS. Yes that stuff “sold” Mecum’s auction bought it. Then ran it in their Las Vegas auction. Prices went sky high. High enough to choke a giraffe. Their auction is now a reality show. I don’t think most of those items will be paid for. It’s very common to see mecum list things later in the year for lesser prices. Some items can bring world record prices 3 times in one year. Go figure. They sell items for $50,000-100,000 more then anyone can . Then try to sell them later for a third of the original sale. It’s all marketing and hype. It should be illegal.

I'm liking this sidecar and its well-behaved occupant:

Nice assembly, nice paint.

That's definitely an Oh Sh*t moment.
Once I built a railroad, I made it run,
Made it race against time.
Once I built a railroad, now it's done --
Brother, can you spare a dime?

Which calls into question the reality of the photo.

British-bred Royal Enfield speeding ahead in Asia
https://www.bbc.com/news/business-54429714

British-bred Royal Enfield is expanding aggressively as it aims to tap into the world's biggest motorbike-buying market, in Asia.

One of the world's oldest bike brands still in operation has been owned by India's Eicher Group since 1994 and has seen strong sales in its local market.

It is now embarking on increasing sales across Asia, and recently announced plans to open a new factory in Thailand.

Asian customers appreciate the style and heritage of its bikes, Royal Enfield chief executive Vinod Dasari tells the BBC.

"We make a significantly better bike for not a significantly higher price," he says.

"Plus we design and produce bikes for the world, not just India".

The new Thailand plant is expected to be in operation within the next 12 months and will be the firm's biggest factory outside of India.

Just as Harley Davidson pulls out:

HD's downturn looks to be accelerating. The local dealership tells me they now have higher sales volume in clothing and parts than they do new bikes.

HD’s big-bike catalog seems destined to follow other boomer favorites into the corporate history bin. Without a serious effort to innovate/market lighter or electric bikes, I can’t see a way forward for them (unless they are happy to shrink down to something akin to a cottage industry business).

Harley Davidson is in the same boat as model trains ( Wow trains boats and motorcycle all in one sentence). So many of the got to have it group. Bought one. Now 25 percent of America's garages, basements and living rooms have a nice 10 year old Harley sitting there. An unused Harley. More of a piece of art than a motorcycle. In the next few years those bikes will be sold for peanuts. That's if anybody wants it. Harley made a bad product for the last 15-20 years. Sales were fueled by a flashy name brand tough guy image. That wont get he 100 miles down the road without braking. With the blue collar worker being pinched right now. Harley wont be selling them any new rides.
