The list of things that were certainly not normal for their time, in science, the arts, engineering, medicine, etc. is practically endless. Grinding ourselves into a fit of normalcy would have kept us in the Dark Ages. Sometimes, we have had to say FU to those who would complain about what is normal and move forward.

Hence, Normality is a paved road: It’s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow.

Nice. Good point. And nicely done, Rufus. :D

Sometimes we walk around a point only to find it right in front of us

Not straight arrow Butch. Messed around a little with pot and speed in my very early 20's, but I don't handle either very well. I'm a control freak and drugs just don't mix well with that type personality. I was a Long Island Tea guy for decades, but other drugs was not my choice for relaxing. I think the legalization of pot is going to bite the country on the backside.

I have very mixed feelings about this.
Prohibition of alcoholic beverages did not work. Lots of money spent trying to stop boozing. Money could have been made from taxes.
Money could be made from taxing recreational drugs but we still spend much to try stopping drug use.
There is much confusing info available but I have no experience in this field. So many opposing claims are made. As with any subject
like this there are very vocal supporters of both sides.
It would be nice if unbiased info that covered all sides were available in everyday terms.
Rufus's experience was in cancer research but he or others may be able to lead me to what I need to know.

Roger, I think it's like most choices in our world. Very opposing points of view and polarization. So, I guess we'll have to see how it works out. Won't be yours or my problem as we'll be gone, but........................

When Johnny Carson couldn't get out of his at curbside in NYC (at Columbus Circle, I believe,) decades ago, he was quite disappointed and ticked-off about being imprisoned like that. I think that is what killed the car.

A Bricklin car had made its debute around nearly the same time as the De Lorean, and I came very close to getting either of them. However, the doors were a turn-off for me, which might sound surprising since those so-called "gull-winged" doors were so eye-catching a gimmic. I opted for a new Seville , instead.
