Hobo Jungle

Hopped a southbound freight for home last night after an awesome day with the Dirt Man in Orangeville.

As I got near the camp in the morning he had a wooden sign pointed in the directin of his camp. Man what a camp............................

We had a great day just sittin' and drinkin' and shootin' the bull. He's quite the baker too. Made a big ole apple to munch on. It was HEVY.....................


The kids and Rosie their dog where having a great time just runnin' around playin' and roundin' up the lambs which was funny. His better half Kim (the redhead) was wonderful........................

She whipped up a big ole' salad and Dirt man he fired up the grill and we had one hell of feast. Smoked chops that I brought along and steak and some big *** spuds that Dirt rounded up. filled the bellys right up......................


When we were done eatin' the kids found a baby snake and ole' Dirt man brought in the house to show us which my better half Patty wasn't into......................


Had lots of fun and lots of laughs. As always the day goes to fast and then it's time to pack up........................


The last picture in the album is the moon over the mountain side as we were leavin'. just plain AWESOME..........................

Dirt Man And Kim..........................me and Patty had a great day that we will cherish forever........................

My grill brand is called the "Cheap-Ass-Sears".

Good thing Hev didn't take a picture of my non-deck. I had pulled-up all the floor boards. Ugly mess.
Hev and I had figured we would supervise Patty and Kim putting down the new deck floor, but they had two words for us. One was "it", and the other was "stick".

Yeah, we ate good. One thing I forgot to buy was some napkins for the table.
So I had to pull out our best 'Mississippi-linen'.

Pete, is it a Weber-style grill? Which coal do you use? I've been getting this Cowboy brand. Anyone tried it?

That picture, that's my neighbor, the Christmas tree farmer. He's a good man. I've talked about his operation here before. It's a cut-your-own deal. He plays Christmas music, has a fire to warm cold fingers, serves cookies and hot chocolate. We're close enough that we just carry the tree home each Christmas. The kids freakin' LOVE that day!

Me and my deceased-friend planted that row of trees down the driveway when they were only a foot tall. 57 of 'em. The summer he died, the uppermost tree died, by the top of the corral. Coincidence, but I decided not to replant that one.

I surely wasn't thinking ahead. The prevailing wind blows from right to left (west to east), and those trees act like the perfect snow fence, and stop the snow right onto the driveway.
One of a lifetime-full of dumb-ass decisions.
But it would really hurt to cut them all down now. There's bird nests in a bunch of them all up and down, including sparrows, juncos, a robin, and a favorite mockingbird that sings at night. Rabbits hide in the pine's skirts along the ground. The pine scent in the rain, and the wind whistling through the needles are bitchin'.
What's a poor hobo to do.

And to think I walked into this. It all belonged to Kim before I met her.
A good/bad decision. I get a nice hobo camp, but then, I have to deal with a redhead.
