Hobo Jungle
Hev, classic photos. How about one of you back in the day? During my 22,000 miles of hitchhiking, I had some amazing rides with truckers. Almost died once when the cab slid on ice like a snake head being strangled, but somehow the trailer kept going in the correct direction. Did you ever warm up canned food in the heater vents or on the engine? And those truck-stop whores walking around all juiced up and dressed up.
Saturday night. Any hobos feel like having a dram and the long glass?

Yea Tramp.........plenty of chicks to go around......................
I always was doin' stuff on the manifold. I would wrap up a nice thick steak and potato with foil and wire it up. Man, talk about some good eatin'. I would pull into the rest area and pop the hood and take the stuff of the manifold and chow down and have a couple of cold brews from the reefer trailer. People would just look. Guess they thought I was nutz............

Damn, Hev, those are the best. You did wonders with the Burly Hog. Did you ever read my story about this guy going to the bike-gang pig roast? It starts like this:
A NICE COUPLE
He was having trouble with his wife. More than trouble: Felice had told him she was leaving, but he refused to acknowledge it. He could be rather stubborn. They lived in a second-story apartment up from the abandoned textile mills, the shades drawn night and day, the TV never off. Buck was one of the local drug dealers and a sergeant in the motorcycle gang The Iron Skulls. One time he’d gone to the war movie Platoon ripped on LSD because it was “intense, man.” Felice had attended a movie recently as well. She hadn’t gone with Buck, but had decided to ask a gay friend to come along instead. Buck had found the theater, and while the couple were inside watching a romantic comedy, he’d taken a sledgehammer and smashed out every window and dented every body panel in the other guy’s month-old sports car. Instead of pressing charges, the guy had moved out of town. That he was gay didn’t affect Buck’s decision at all. “Fag was with my wife without permission.” That was crime enough and settled it for him.
We lifted weights together on Saturday mornings.
“She says she has this special friend,” he said, his massive torso rising from the bench. He pronounced “special friend” as if his mouth was full of live bugs. We were in a narrow cluttered hallway sharing the rank space with motorcycle parts—dead batteries, bent fenders, a cracked frame, worn tires.
“Special friend?” I said.
I don't have many shots on the Net. This was taken in the early 80s. Can you guess the bike? The model was only made for 3 years, from 1974 to 1976.
Pete, you like a folk-rock star.

Hev, I don't think Norton or Triumph made a 900 back then. This bike was the fastest production motorcycle made by this company until just recently. They built it to win the Superbike championships, which they did in 1976. I went from a 150cc Velocette to that. It's a miracle that I survived. Truly.
My father raced cars in that helmet during the late 40s and early 50s. I still wear it. For luck. Only for luck. My dad died young and I feel that he looks after me if I'm in that helmet. Stupid superstition.

No such thing as a bad superstition, Tramp. I quess thats why I never washed my cut-offs. Bad luck, ya' know.
Man, Ya outta get a sniff of this redhead over here on the left shoulder. WOW. What a night.
