Dreadful cynicism there. You people who live east of the Colorado River wallow in your ignorance.Rufus T. Firefly wrote:rex desilets wrote:.........abuses of normal folk increase.........

Never been to SF then?
Being East beats wallowing in the fires and mud and sliding off into the Pacific to get eaten by sharks or killer whales..........although I will grant that San Diego has good food which does make it a place that I try to visit when I can convince my knees and back that sitting in an airplane is worth it,

With all those spikes stickin' out, you'd have to be a masochist to want to kiss her!
You're beginning to catch on.......you want to hug her tightly and enjoy the experience!

Re: Trump and Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico’s governor announced Monday that he is privatizing the island’s government-owned power company following decades of mismanagement, corruption and blackouts.
The surprise announcement comes as nearly 30 percent of power customers in the U.S. territory remain in the dark more than four months after Hurricane Maria.
The Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, or PREPA, was founded in 1979 as a public utility run by appointees of the island’s governor. It has long been criticized for political patronage, corruption and inefficiency, charges that took on urgency in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
Its director was forced out after the utility failed to immediately call for help from its mainland counterparts after the storm and it granted a power-restoration contract to a little-known company that it was forced to rescind. Most recently, PREPA was blamed for the failure to distribute badly needed parts found in one of its warehouses even as repairs went undone for lack of supplies.
Gov. Ricardo Rossello said privatization will bring more affordable rates and better service to consumers as well as help attract more business to an island mired in an 11-year-old recession.

Puerto Rico is part of the US and has been since 1898..........but why we never really developed it for any real purpose is a bit of mystery.

At one time PR was a prosperous country as many companies from the mainland had moved manufacturing there. There was a tax advantage for doing it but somewhere along the line the tax advantage disappeared and a lot of the manufacturing left for cheaper places.
My brother and his family spent 2 years in PR in the early 50s setting up a facility for Papermate to make ballpoint pens there

Puerto Rico warns its population and economy will plunge
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/puerto-ric ... ll-plunge/
Puerto Rico's governor submitted a revised fiscal plan overnight Thursday that estimates the U.S. Caribbean territory's economy will shrink by 11 percent and its population drop by nearly 8 percent next year. The island is continuing to recover from the crippling impact of Hurricane Maria.
The proposal doesn't set aside any money to pay creditors in the next five years as the island struggles to restructure a portion of its $73 billion public debt. The original plan had set aside $800 million a year for creditors, a fraction of the roughly $35 billion due in interest and payments over the next decade.
The five-year plan also assumes Puerto Rico will receive at least $35 billion in emergency federal funds for post-hurricane recovery and another $22 billion from private insurance companies.

Spent a lot of time there in the early 1980's working with electronics manufacturers for Pfizer. It was pretty third-world then, a lot like visiting parts of Appalachia.

Now that's sad in every way.
