My morning glories have shriveled and their season ( a couple glorious months!) has ended.

Still out this afternoon testing some work on the Midget, then a cruise in the MGB. What a lovely season for sportscars...

Spent the day raking...my own and the elderly neighbors:



The city should be by to vacuum them up today. Still a lot of leaves on the trees...probably a couple more passes this week. Heavy rain forecast for tomorrow...should knock the bulk of them down.

Remembering when we could burn them, and the smell of the smoke...now that was Fall.

Spent the day raking...

I stopped raking and have instead a gas powered lawn vac/chipper/shredder that sucks them up, shreds them, and then bags them. I get about 4-5/1 raked up bags vs. vac'd and shredded. That was Friday afternoon followed by a zesty session of chainsaw up the logs from the tress that I had taken down a few months ago. Cold weather moving in and my health club needs to be restocked with logs to split.

The city should be by to vacuum them up today.

Used to get that service when I lived in Falls Church City a long time ago.....now I have to lug them out to the curb bagged for pick-up or just dump the shredded leaves back into the wooded area on my lot. Guess which one I do,

The best part is I have this Pin Oak (quercus palustris) in the front yard that doesn't drop ninety percent of its leaves until spring:



The city doesn't vacuum up leaves in the spring, so those will have to be bagged and hauled to the landfill for mulching.

The best part is I have this Pin Oak (quercus palustris) in the front yard that doesn't drop ninety percent of its leaves until spring...

I have red oaks behind the house and a huge one just over onto the neighbor's behind me - 8" limb came down out of it last week - cut that up for the wood pile Fri.

Out in front by the road the other neighbor has a pair of those pin oaks - at least 40 years old and a source of leaves year round....back into my driveway & yard.

I'm kind of hoping he takes them down someday.........firewood for the next decade!

Got our first bit of the white stuff last night:



A couple squalls rolled through around nine o'clock last night. Supposed to be sixty-five on Wednesday...woohoo, surf's up!

I heard on the radio that Portland OR has had 15"of rain so far this Dec.10" more than normal. I'll be there in 3 days. Oregon has a well deserved reputation for rain but their rainfall totals arent that high because what it does id drizzle or light rain a lot of the time.

I drove through Asbury Park NJ last week and the cherry trees were flowering. Today i made a trip into Philly and the Irises were blooming. Dec. 17 for the trees and Dec. 22 for the irises.

TV news reported - predicted - today that Thursday, Dec. 24, will have a high temp of 74 for much of NJ. 74!

Rain today here in No. Va. Grey and dreary so another day of working in the shop, puttering about the house, and reading.....and maybe fire in the fireplace just the heck of it.
