Yes, indeed, I wondered about them, too. Maybe, they are fans of pole man (?) Or perhaps they are all just tuned-in because a camera is present.
They all certainly had a whole universe
less of things available to amuse and interest than we have nowadays. In fact, when I look affectionately back to my childhood of the 50's, I was amused and had adventures every day, but nothing anywhere near today's standards. In fact, for example, my parents had the first television (
Admiral, if I recall correctly) in our suburb, and we quickly established the custom of inviting neighbors - anytime they wanted - to come to our home to watch TV.
