Alas, Jon, they have been sitting in their boxes awaiting the refurbishment of the lower layer. The days of summer are long, but their just is never enough time.

Correct. It was from this Fellini movie that I thought was so great when I saw it as a teenager. I watched it recently and was horrified I'd ever liked the thing.

Mighty hot on that tarmac today. Things cooled off nicely a 7,500 feet, though. The earth looks so different from there.

Dennis, just planning on how to improve the look of my upper loop and considering adding a second upper loop. How about you?

As you can see in this shot, the upper loop is pretty basic looking. I'm thinking of putting your ballast on it and putting some kind of stonework along the sides of the gray plywood, any suggestions would be appreciated!!!!

Jon, You might consider paper painted or printed to look like stone. One trick is to color Xerox stone detail onto heavy stock and then cut the sheets to fit. The quality of color Xerox is amazing these days.
Or you could get something printed to look like metal bridge sides with the weathering, RR name, etc., already in. Am I explaining this okay? It's rather early and I'm dead sober. Scary!

Are you guys getting these posts as ridiculously long windows?

Tramp, Yep, I was considering some type of cardstock, but would love the look of a 3 dimensional stone. I think hydro-cast would be a problem as it would have to be made with curves, and I'm not sure about the cost. Here is a mock-up of what I'm trying to accomplish if this helps. (see Dennis' ballast has already improved it!!!)

Metal girder might look more realistic. Stone usually requires an arch. Are you understanding my Xerox idea? If not, I'll give you a call.
