On another note, I'll bet Mr. and Mrs. P. have their own WALL....er fence. Do you think they'll let those caravanners in???

No they don't have a wall or fence around their place. I don't think they will let anyone in to their place....

You seem to be very familiar with the joint.....did they have you over for burgers?

On an earlier note: Are there ANY members of Congress that aren't millionaires? I always wanted a gig like Blutarsky in "Animal House"!

Easy enough to look up (and a little out of date): https://www.rollcall.com/news/politics/ ... -one-chart

About 1/2 are not millionaires and fair number are in the red.

I have a wife now for 64 years, 4 kids, 6 grandkids and 4 greatgrandkids.
My wife and I are retired as are 3 of our kids. The grands and greats either have jobs or are in school.
My wife taught for 23 years after raising 4 kids and getting me through 2 degrees I taught in 8 school
systems in 3 states, never got fired and loved what I did.
We own our property of @1 acre and 3 bedroom 3 bath house. Yes, it has the usual other rooms that
are commonly associated with houses. There is a 3 room shed behind the house which stores the decorations
for the various holidays. This room is used by my wife. In the middle is storage for tools and mowers and
other stuff used by both of us. The other room is the most important one. The TRAIN ROOM! No more
need be said about that. I am NOT a collector or an operator. I just run my trains and watch them go
through the scenery.

I don't think I have a lot to look forward to ( now I don't want a discussion about that :) ).
I am fairly well satisfied with the past. If there is any regret it is that I never had the honor of serving my
country in the military. ( Probably don't need any discussion on this either.)

Above it was said that we didn't have anything to talk about.
So talk about me if you want. Just don't call me names.

Well, I did, back on page 1. I just had an eye exam yesterday. I'm developing cataracts. This was a surprise to learn. Anyway, I have to get glasses, at the very least, to continue my drivers licence. I'm also using a magnifying glass, to work on my trains. It will be nice to get some reading glasses, to replace it.

Somehow, the fan for my air conditioning/heating got killed. I have to get that fixed. I feel like I've been urban camping in my own home, the last month or so.

As for trains, I'm getting closer and closer to finishing the Milwaukee Special engine. I still don't know what's beyond that, but I have an idea or two.

Well, yes, I did read that, which was why I asked you to "tell us more."
And I'm glad you did. Eye problems can be scary and challenging. At least, having to undergo surgery for glaucoma scared the pants off me. There isn't much I value more than my eyesight, when it comes to body parts aging or functioning less than they used to.

The stuff about cataracts was a surprise. The DMV said I needed to take a visual exam. Since I lost my glasses, I figured it was about time to see the eye doctor, and get a new prescription.Sooner or later, I will need to have the cataracts fixed.

I'm glad you got your glaucoma fixed, Murph. That is scary.

My eye problems were:
Glasses , since first grade and bifocals since I was 35.
Any changes were very slow btween age19 to 65 then the following.
Detached retina, fixed with laser surgery.
Cataracts, fixed by lens replacement operations. It actually only took minutes per eye. No hospital time.
Glaucoma, controlled with eye drops, one in AM and a different one in the PM.
Macular degeneration, apparently not much can be done. I take some vitamins that are specifically made for this.
I can use a computer because of the brightness but have trouble reading books using normal lighting.
Vision is dimmer and I can see the difference. I do not drive at night and soon may not be able to drive at all.
I had FUN getting old but not as much anymore.

My eye doctor prescribed this. Bausch & Lomb Presser Vision Eye Vitamin & Mineral Supplement AREDS with Lutein.
He was very specific about this. It comes in different strengths with and without Lutein and other variations.
He says that it will not stop the problem but will slow the onset of blindness. Of course I will do what I can.
I was also told by the doc that some vitamins can help delay the problem if taken earlier and regularly.
