Hobo Jungle

We've witnessed some jungles destroyed for some idiotic reasons. Not enough band what? Then those that were responsible come along and say that they didn't mean it. Hard to swallow when a thread along side it is just as trafficked and never touched by the iron fist. Makes you think they don't like our types.
Seems to me that they just don't understand a simple philosophy - that you can't beat someone up and then expect them to say "I love you." A dog NEVER forgets getting kicked.
Jackie Blue, this is simply one of the many profiles of an abuser. I do some counseling work through my religous affiliation and have seen this often. I am not a professional therapist and am careful to make referrals when problems run deep. I could be wrong, but, generally, this behavior is not occuring in just one of that individual's life endeavors. Pray for the victims. When the perpetrator of the abuse does not acknowledge the behavior or make amends for past malfeasance, it is simply in the best interest of all parties to maintain some distance.
Sadly, some people are drawn to being victims. Or, they perceive that the abuser has power and become sychophants. I am just plain discusted with that. Which is why I stay here.

Daisy, I don't care for 69 Impalas. 66 was the last body style for me. And I NEVER drive south, only north, and I'm not much of a fisherman, so I'll have to say NO. Sorry. Here's a poem about going north.
BUT
There is a compulsion to drive north:
The belief that if you could only go far enough,
Past the Maritimes, past the Gaspe Peninsula,
Across the St. Lawrence River, over
The last tenable roads, that there
You would find an outpost tavern
Held over from the days of the lost North,
With spar-varnished snowshoes stacked
And a monstrous fire of arm-spread-wide birch
And iron cauldrons of bubbling stew
And pewter tankards of rare ale,
Laughter and thick wool shirts
In dark and gaudy plaids.
And the jokes would be funny
And the stories long and true,
And the women would embrace you
With firm and bountiful chests,
And the ale would be cheap and fresh,
So when you fell drunk before the hearth
A grinning voyageur would cover you
Gently with a massive wool shirt
While you dreamt dreams as clear
As a vision in the arctic dark.
San, I'm still working on what you said. Maybe when I'm less hung, I'll understand it. Are you saying it's a symptom of abuse to be willing to go back where you've been mistreated? Or that the person mistreating needs help?

I'm detecting a little paranoia around the camp the last few days. Did you guys get a bad batch of Idaho Gold?
Lighten up. These forums have moderators but its the posters that make them what they are and make them worthwhile. There are a lot of great guys and gals scattered around all of the different forums.
Yeah Rich pulled the old Jungle thread and I missed the actual pulling and only got it second hand. But I believe he really didn't know what it meant to us and was genuinely sorry. After all he let the last thread go on for months with little poetry and mostly our drunken banter. And I know he was getting a lot of complaints.

Pennsy, still the Standard, or whatever.

Will, we know you're a Melvin spy now. We're still willing to drink with you, but don't expect us NOT to seem paranoid.
Melvin knew! He knows everything. Except how to make Idaho Gold[TM]. And he might even have the recipe for that.
Dennis, we ALL have issues. It's the nature of being human.

"my, how you've grown"
I remember that phrase
from my childhood days too
"just wait and see"
I remember those words and how they chided me
when patient was the hardest thing to be
because we can't make up
for the time that we've lost
I must let these memories provide
no little girl can stop her world to wait for me
I should have known
at your age, in a string of days the year is gone
but in that space of time it takes so long
because we can't make up
for the time that we've lost
I must let those memories provide
no little girl can stop her world to wait for me
every time we say goodbye
you're frozen in my mind
as the child that you never will be
you never will be again
I'll never be more to you than a stranger could be
every time we say goodbye
you're frozen in my mind
as a child that you never will be
will be again
