Re: Hobo Jungle
Years ago my friend Don and I went to look at a Mercedes 300SL Gullwing coupe that was on offer at a local dealer's for $10,000. He had owned two 190SLs and loved them. Well, he was about 6'4" and it took some gymnastics for him to get into the car. With his shins pressed against the bottom of the dashboard he could just get his feet on the pedals. He reached up to close the famous gullwing door and clocked himself on the top of the head. The door was still 4" away from closing. I fit in it just fine (5'7").
You begin flying with a full bag of luck and an empty bag for experience. The object is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

I forgot. That's the rest of the story.Tom Dempsey wrote:Another famous Enzo the ******* story is the job offer he made to Carroll Shelby. Shelby ended up so pissed off that he went home and started Shelby American with the intention of beating Ferrari at Le Mans, at which Enzo considered the first place podium to be inviolable Ferrari property. Took Shelby until 1965 and all the money Ford could through into it, but the job got done.

Excerpt from Car and Driver review...
Nobody is luckier than me, I think, as I stride up to the GT, doors levitated to a spread eagle, and thrust my right leg in, twist sideways, and . . . ah, no, that didn’t quite work. Let’s try sitting down on the wide sill, swinging a leg in, and—ow!—just bashed my head on the FIA-spec roll cage hidden behind the low-hanging headliner. Okay, stand up again, right leg in, twist while bending the left knee a bit, and—pop!—I feel a tendon go. There’s a white-hot flash of shooting pain in my knee, and as my left leg collapses like the bridge on the River Kwai, I tumble backward into the GT and voilà! I’m in!
Sounds like my Chevy Cruz! I intentionally left off the "E" because the car is a 4 letter word. The "key" is an absolute effing joke. Even with keys with a chip (needed to start the vehicle) you could at least get a blank cut to ENTER the car, but NOT here. For North of a C note, I can get a spare.

Today is World Metrology Day, May 20, 2017.
With International Firefighters’ Day behind us and World Turtle Day looming, you might not think you’ve got time for another international day in May. But don’t skip World Metrology Day, which is observed on May 20 every year—the anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of the Meter in 1875. Because metrology—the science of measurement—touches on many areas of your life, whether you realize it or not.

I'll go kiss my ruler and my meter stick.
Or maybe I'll just give 'em a handshake.

The hat suited him. Those are remarkable shoes for that era, too, right? And are those silk socks?

Putting aside "the issue" the old boy did alright for himself. Dressed nice, had a company that made toys for him, made movies and got to hump a lot of Hollywood starlets along the way.

He certainly did things his way. But that practice of storing urine in bottles in his bedroom seems he may have had a fetish for more than just glamorous dames and big contraptions, huh.
