My painting about adolescence has been featured here: https://www.facebook.com/12454117091258 ... =1&theater

Wayne is correct about the buildings and the fact that I can't figure out how to program in the time date. I suppose I'll actually have to read the instructions.

Dangerous activity....

Nice pics of excellent models! Would like to see more as your convenience, please.

Rufus, tell me how many you want to see. I've been enjoying playing around with this camera so much, never having had one before.

Is this of interest?

Or this kind of thing?

Or more this?

Fun to play with, aren't they!! My current one has far, far too many setting and variables to fully appreciate, but I'm still learning where some settings are even located.

That turntable would be an excellent subject - I've long had a thought to build a small wood gallows type turntable into that portion of my layout that permits replacement of a drop in module to completely alter the primary scene.

Have not had the real driving impetus to execute that idea, but a series of pics that I might use to learn the subtleties of such a turntable would be eminently useful and of real interest!

Rufus, I built that turntable as a teenager, and really haven't thought much about it since. I like it as a talisman of my youth, but know I will never do anything more with it. Of course you realize all this stuff is HO, right? Or actually HOn3. Cheers. If it were O scale, I would send it to you.

Scale is not really relevant to appreciate the model itself and the effort/quality in it. I can also appreciate talismans of one's youth - maybe too many of them hanging (literally) here in my office/library....should dust a few off. I also appreciate the offer were it O scale!

Tramp,

Once again I agree with Rufus. This is stuff you just have sitting around the house?

I think I recall an O gauge layout [3R?] you had set up on the floor. Do you still have that?

Maybe you will have a little time now to play with trains.

To MTJ forum readers,

Merry Christmas, Merry Xmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Hannuka [sp?], Seasons Greetings or whatever anyone likes.

Tramp,

You are a man of many talents. I particularly like the covered bridge. It would be interesting to hear a bit about the subjects in the images.

Thanks,
Rich

I'm liking that concrete-arch bridge...reminds me of some of the old overpasses on the Balto-Wash Parkway north of DC.

Tree's up...had to call in reinforcements this year after busting my wing:

The covered bridge is a model of the Fisher bridge in Vermont, still used I think, but that was some years ago. Still standing anyway. I build this when I was 18, I think. It won a blue ribbon at a Northeast Canada America NMRA contest in 1978 or 9. I made one mistake that still bothers me. Because I had built the entire truss work inside the bridge, I hoped to show that off by leaving slight gaps in the outside planking. Didn't work and the gaps aren't correct, but it was my first bridge.

The cement one was cast plaster made in a mold where I hoped the mold boards would imprint into the plaster. Also didn't work, so I aged it with cracks. No prototype, just invented.

Rich, does that help?

Healey, how old is she? Might want to keep an eye on her. She might be thinking of live candles!

Those should be best left to a professional, like Tramp.

She's twenty-two...graduated this past May, now teaching sixth-grade math. She's living at home, sopping up free rent whilst saving up to start grad-school.

A friend of ours was born/raised in Germany, her folks still living there. They only light their Christmas tree one night...Christmas Eve via small candles in small tin holders. Visited a few times...it is spectacular but nerve-wracking. I'll stick with incandescent (have not yet transitioned to LED's).

That's exactly what Tramp And Daisy do, also on Christmas Eve, with live flame. They will usually put up a picture every year, if you haven't seen it. It never fails to stun.

I burn my old tree every Spring. Everybody comes out to watch, because in about three seconds. the whole thing is engulfed in a noisy roar in flames 15 feet high. Very sobering. Tramp uses untrimmed trees, which allows the space clearance for open flames. Me, my nads ain't big enough.

Sure do love his yearly picture, though!
